had one of these in for mot today and got me wonderin if the bottom end is the same as an xe with bigger bores ??
An XE or Ecosmeg head will probably fit it, but its not an overbore, the stroke is longer, so you wont see any significant power gains as such, more likely a hike in torque, but it wont be as revvy.

i dunno about power ill find out tomoz :) and this one was the ecosmeg headed one ? so would there be any point in bothering ?
Yes im building a xe using this bottom end. rReasons are because people in other countrys have managed to get very good bhp out of these and can get them to rev out to around 10.000 rpm . And as Lee said its not so much power its for more torque. But you can buy the steel rods , pistions and crankshafts at a high price but would be worth it as with good tunning you can get it to rev aswell as a 2ltr xe!
And for the power as follows
bhp 136
0 - 60 12.7 secs ( not to bad for the weight and size of the thing )
top speed around 100mph
Hope this is usefull to you :thumb:
Driven vectras etc that use this engine and they arent bad once going, just kinda gutless low down.
Still take an xe over it anytime though
