That is mad how he can still make a profit on it. 55p a litre. Never seen it that low since I knew where to look for prices as a kid. When I started driving, think it was on about 75p? Damn, should have got truckfulls back then :(

i'd bite his hand off if he lived round here

then go in with a lowloader full of barrells and fill them all up. start up my own 'local' petrol station out of my front garden! sell it for 80p a litre i'd be a millionaire :D

Just goes to show doesnt it. The media is full of news about 'the cost of petrol going up'.

Yes its going up, but take the duty away and its still ludicrously cheap in comparison.

If one opens up down south, im joining!

Makes you wonder how the government spend all the money in tax, you'd think there would be enough made from petrol alone to run the whole country.

There would easily be enough, but the problem is were british citizens, and they only care about helping out the illegal immigrants.

Just think though, if the government loses income on fuel, it will need to recoup it elsewhere. 40% income tax with no lower earnings limit anyone?

I dread to think what they'll tax next when the oil eventually does start to thin out. Even if we actually get our backsides in gear and started using renewable fuels such as biobutanol before the natual oil gets prohibitively expensive, the price won't have the steady increase of oil as there shouldn't be any panic over level of supply. Unless certain governments can fabricate a threat to that supply - such as, ooohhh I don't know, how about some middle eastern countries having weapons of mass destruction - and thus force up prices, but now we're getting into conspiracy theories lol
