connection problems

anyone any ideas why my computer keeps saying no dial tone its happens every day i cant connect both the phone provider and internet provider say there is nothing wrong

how far away from your phone line inlet is your pc?

not very far more a less next to it

say if someone rings now it will come up no dial tone, then ill press connect, it will say no dial tone again

then take me half to connect back up

your on dial up? with what company? using what modem? internal eternal?

didnt think i was on dial up im with tiscali on speedtouch modem 330

no sorry my bad. i had this problem ages ago have you got all the little filters in?

all filter everything as it should be god its so annoying it happens like everyday now

ahhh!!! this used to happen to me when i was with a different service provider, i cant really remember what i didnt to fi it! id say remove everything unplug everything and start again. if that doesnt work then ill rack my brain and try and think of what i did.

when you have trouble, are both lights lit on the modem ?

Filters in ALL your phone sockets? Including those without computer lines in?

no both lights are not on one is flashing when the connection problem starts everything else is fine

its mind boggling and so annoying as the provider say its not them and the phone company say it aint them either

if the usb light is on and the other is flashing its a sync problem ( the connection to the exchange ) usually when I go out to fix this fault its a filter or phone extension problem. filters can fail !

They can also be really crap out of the packet too, had a few of those myself :(
