i did another project a few months ago but neva updated it so ill start again.
i bought this very tidy shell that someone had clearly spent alot of time and money on doing.
the previous history to it as i know is that it had an XE on throttle bodies not really sure.
my plans are a c20let with a few tricky bits on the way for it.
bits i have so far-
c20let
bilstein coilovers
ap bells and discs
hi spec 4 pot calipers

looking good fella.

ditto.
what mount kit have you used? i found mine needs a spacer on the drivers mount to bring it down 10-12mm.
looking good...keep up the good work ...:)
i used a kit that a guy locally makes which are the dogs nuts to be honest.
iv looked at it and it ssems like the mount on the body has been moved lower about an inch so i need to drill another hole in the kit and make a spacer to make it sit correctly. there seems so many varyations of kits and methods
hahahaha that aint me its my chavvy mate but to be honest how has a nova without knowing a chav lol oh and i actually think they are becoming cool lol

How did you use the 8v block? I know they are almost identical, but i've been told that two oil gallerys don't line up and will cause problems, how did you overcome this?
Keith
its only a problem if you use the 8v head gasket but as i used the 16v head gasket it wasnt a problem as there is enough space in the oil holes to sort it. i think there is a difference with the depth of the oil gallery lodges as the 8v is deeper and the 16v is shallower, this doesnt really effect anything
Bit of an update today.
I spent a bit of time sorting the loom out and got all the engine bay wiring sorted, got the engine to turn over on the starter but not to fire just yet as there are still a couple of power cables i need to sort. so its looking like she will turn over im pretty happy with that
Cheers
Matt

what did you do about the oil restrictor inthe block as the 16v blocks have it to keep oil up the top end as they have twice the numberof cams and ytppets etc 8v's dont have the restrictor do they so wont your tappets suffer form poor oil supply/starvation as the oil is return to the sump to quickly
doesntlook like you have fitted the oil restrictor

Nice work mate, im sure I remember seeing it at shows a few years back? Although I thought it was a lighter blue.
Glad to see its getting well looked after
Hi all not been on here for a while as i have been busy with uni etc. the nova hasnt really been touched since i have returned back to uni.
The answer to corsakids question is that iv not had any trouble as yet with the oil running back, there seems to be a surficiant amount of oil held in the head for initial start-up for it not to rattle.
Update so far: At the end of the summer the engine was creating alot of smoke so after alot of diognosis and head scratching i came up with the turbo being scrap, so now i have bought a turbo insert which seems to be in very good condition and by the looks of the turbine blade has had some influence from turbo technics in the past as there is a 3 degree grind back on the edge of the blade (turbo technics are the only people we know to that does such thing).
Once the turbo has been reconditioned i will be putting it up for sale so i can fund a garret t3 and a tubular manifold, so if anyone is after a good turbo let me know
cheers guys

Yeah thats right the guy who owned it not sure of his name took it to a guy called Stu at the Griffin Centre, stu broke the car for him and sold some parts on his behalf. It had fibreglass boot and doors i think. My mate had the boot for his track nova. Think it was a redtop on TB'S, had orange roll cage all the parts on the car were performance parts. Polybushed all round yet again my mate had the rear beam think it had perspex windows aswell. I dont know really what else to put, but if you have any more questions please ask me an if i dont the answer i will try and find out for you ok mate

someone else said that it had an orange roll cage which is canny as im just painting mine orange haha.
thanks for the info
keep in touch
matt
Never had a cage in it originally - had a full interior etc.
Was featured in a few mags, as an XE nova, especially on 45s was RARE as fook back then.
Always remember watching it ripping up the duals by our school was the fastest thing about for ages!

jobs left to do on the turbo are-
fit turbo
make an exhaust (thining side exit cus cba with going over the axle as its so low it will be tight)
throw my new seats in (scooby wrx)
cage mounting
finish off the electricals.
paint bumpers and skirts
paint speedlines
fit the 4 pots
and finally put petrol in it and let her have it
ill try and get some pics of the van once its mot'd
matt
Don't Scooby seats touch in the middle when fitted in a Nova mate? I only ask as the lad I bought mine off (now in a Nissan) attempted to fit them to his Nova turbo and I'm sure he said it was a no go.
i have no idea, i know they are close i think but if i cant get tthem both in ill shunt them about to see what i can do if not then sod the passenger off lol, or give them a bucket to sit on or summut
You think your man enough to drive it mate?
You think your man enough to drive it mate?
well im more than man enough than you cus you sold it cus you wasnt man enough to handle the shell hahahaha and your turning into a shirt lifter as i heard your selling the corsa
Technically anyone selling a corsa should now be classed as a man as they're either a girls car or a chavs car.
well this corsa has a let in it and i dont think he can handle the power cus he lifts his shirt alot
