Use the nova rear mount, then drill an tap the F28. The linkage needs to be done different to the F20, needs alot cutting out an welding back up.

There is a difference between a std spec rear mount & that from a GTE/GSi. There is a strengthening brace which is worth copying.

You modify the std mount using a normal 2ltr kit as per this guide:- http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90103

You will also need the f28 re-tapping in the holes marked by red...

The linkage needs a chunk taken out of it and re-welding... (ignore the threaded bar, not 100% neccessary)

To set the linkage up you can't use the drill bit method, its a case of trial & error. I held the stick inside the car in where I thought neutral would be and then got someone to tighten it up. A few attempts and it was fine. If you find you can't get all gears ok you can either shave down the white block on your gearstick to give more throw or knock one side of the contact out, again to give more throw.

You will also need to lower your tie bars to clear the box. They need lowering on the arms and at the crossmember.

The easiest way to lower at the arms is plate the arm (for strength) then run spacer blocks (around 25-30mm iirc) as so...

The fronts as you can see by the pic above you can extend the top mount hole then run a spacer block (I ran 25mm). The pic below shows the 1st set I done and ran on my nova I just took off the top and welded a new bit on with the hole 25mm higher (slightly elongated for adjustment). My latest nova has the ones above where the top was chopped off a section welded on and elongated so that if I wish, they can be run in incriments up to 25mm or even standard.

Another consideration is your rad position.

In the standard position the normal pipe fouls like so...

Easiest way round it is to move the rad to the middle of the car and then you can use the existing water pipe but with the middle cut out and a straight tube inserted.

I had to work round this on my old one due to my oil cooler position and lack of space so I made a new water hose and modified the mount...

are you easier with an internal linkage for this set up??

Internal linkage if you mean cav one then no. Still joins up to the same place the original one does.

Answering all the above has actually inspired my to add it & more into the Technical archives so check in there mate.

cool thanks is there much benifit from the interal cav linkage? i was givven a f28 wit transfer box etc for free so thought might as well use it cos currantly doing a nova project.

gives you more room to fit a larger bore, straighter exhaust.

not sure of the physical benefits of feel and gearchange etc. never driven with one fitted.

ok cool i thought it might give a better gear change with the 2.0 in it? any one know what like a f28 is to drive is it same as a f20 but with extra gear or will it be slower excelaration with beter top end etc???????/

i think the ratio's are almost eaxactly the same as f20 but with the top gear.

brilliant guide Simps :)

The cav shifter compared ot the nova shifter is **** all difference really, as you still have the sloppy nova linkage.
