wireing troubles

anyone tell me how to wire up a car stereo in a nova i have red, yellow, black and brown which is thick. i know about the red and black, but what the fek is the brown i think its the earth, and the yellow the perminate live can someone help

yeah 8ur right yellow is ignition, browns the earth

I have the same problem! i got my new kenwood stereo can't fucking ne thing wit it! i was puzzled with the wires!

update: i have the system working, but whats this no sound???
i tried a friends stereo in my car and ohhhh sound.
the system isnt knackered as i bought it from halfords and checked it last night
so maybe i wired the speaker up worng??? but i wired a set of 6x9's and they didnt work...
hell knows whats going on. i think im gona get a pro to look at it,
red = live (permanate)
Yellow = Ignition
Black and brown are earth.
i found that connecting my red and yellow it works but if i connect the red to red and yellow to yellow it dosent.
mabe the live has blown...

sorry mate same prob as me!!! i worked out!!! that black is the ignition!!!
If u have a kenwood it's!! red to black
black to brown!
yellow to red!! thats all u really need try that!!
