yoo, im in need of some more bass to my sets and my money situation aint great atm so i thought about making an active sub enclosre but i dont want it to be to big and heavy but it needs to pack a punch (dnb, bassline, house sets) has anybody ever made anything like this before? i know theres a website that sells all the bits but i cnt remember what it was:confused:
an actice sub enclosure similar to car ones ??
he said active, - basically mean's it's already amp'd up etc etc

along the lines of this:
http://www.djkit.co.uk/product.php?id=1266&cat=444
maybe using somethink like this?
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=300-752
and this
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=290-410
but my biggest worry is all the cubic capacity of the enclose and shizzle like that. the making im fine with but its mainly the maths behind it and the know how.
found the website btw (parts express)

Eastbourne... Dont suppose you are coming to PVS are you?
It'd make the weekend if someone was DJing on camp.... Would be ace!
Oh NO NO NO.... That will sound terrible, a car amp has nothing like the right kind of power, and I don't just mean Watts, to run PA stuff. Trust me, my background includes working in car audio and my perents run this (http://www.espproduction.co.uk/)PA company ;)
EDIT: Also when you buy a driver it should come with a recommend enclose for either ported or sealed boxes. If not it should at least give you some of the parmetres of the driver which you can enter into some highly complicated software and it will give you all the fequancy responces, etc depending on the size of the box. So in effect you can 'tune' the box to suit the driver as well as how you like to hear it.

bttt
I built a custom sub box to go in the back of the Celica to the correct size for my JL sub. Biggest pain was designing the box to actually fit the boot, as its an odd shape place to work in. Calculating the box volume was easy though; if you keep it to basic shapes its just a a bit of pythagoras.

its just going to be a simple bo with vents at the bottom (remeber this is not for a car) the thing i was worried about was the compatibility of the sub and amp? i think im just going to buid it and if it ****es up well then ill leave it there lol
Right sorry I assumed this was for a car.... :tard:
If you go ported (recommended for low bass) the the lenght of the port is very critical to tune the driver. There's a calculation where you measure the Sine (IIRC) wave and multiply it till you get the desiered frequancy, remembering to keep it in phase.... TBH your much better off buying ready made stuff. My Dad built a few PA systems over the years, caluclating how to get the best out of a driver, and it still didn't sound as good as a pre made one that has had £0000 poured into the development.
