time has come where i want something a bit newer and comfier for a while, just before PVS aswell, but hey ho im sure i'll be back one day, going for a 106 GTI in white so i dont blend in with all the other 106's on the roads in yellow blue or silver!!! plans are to start another nova or old school vauxhall project 6 months to a year down the line so im not giving up completely, i will still be attending pvs however!!

GTI so it will be a 1600 , not a bad little car tbh :thumb:

You'll get over it...... The reliability & the fact 106's are ten a penny will grind you down & you'll wish you'd never bothered.... LOL

Gotta love the turning circle of 106's aswell, its pathetic.

I quite like the 106 gti's, although not sure I could own one due to the build quality being at best, rubbish lol

Didn't think the turning circle was that bad? I know the 306 Gti-6 is poop to the right due to the gearbox...

i know they're quite common thats why im waiting for a white one, been in a couple and they're great fun, amazing handling and i just fancy a bit more comfort, as for the reliability, i have only ever owned novas and compared to the xe i dont think it could be much worse lol, common faults will be getting uprated where possible when i get one

Not bad little cars.

You'll probably find your desire towards novas soon starts to fade as you experience lovely things like power steering, air con, non rattly dashboards and unrusty panels.

Then you'll find yourself wanting to squeeze more power out of your 106 and suddenly you won't want to spend any money on a Nova as you'll be spending it on your 106.

I've been a Novaholic since 1999 and been on the wagon since November 2007.... never looked back once.

they are quick little buggers tho and rather nice, Never thought of a S2 rallye? I would prefer the S1 rallye 1300 but the gti's a good tool out the box.

The only problem is the driving postition, but that can be sorted without too much headahce.

I'd be tempted to look at the saxo VTS while your on the boat they might be a little cheaper not too sure and virtually the same car.

Good luck finding one tho fella, you wont be dissapointed just think you can chase much quicker cars on the twistys :D

Another Dark horse to look for if you fancy some french action... Xsara VTS but they need some work to make them quick ;) miles better built and a little safer if you stuff it lol.

Agree. S1 Rallye is possibly the only small hatch that would temporarily tempt me out of my Nova. Pretty rare though in an unmolested state.

yeah, they are there tho... I was looking for one a while back but they fetch silly money. I've just come back from owning a xsara VTS track Slag purly as it was a ******* to work on lol toooo much stress :D

I'm not after looking for one though. Its still french & just not my cuppa tea. When my Novas finished I'm gonna have fun thrashing its nutts off!

my ex had a 106 quick silver. It was only a mpi 1.4 but was a giggle on the back roads.
It went realy well for the first 6 months from new then just kept breaking down one thing after another.
To show how bad it got she traded it in on a street Ka that has been fine for the last 3 years all bar a breaklight bulb.

I WILL NEVER OWN A SAXO! i was thinking about a rallye but the idea is to have some comforts for a bit and a rallye has none of them, its like a newer better handling nova lol, i know they have problems but other than a paxo you show me a car that looks as good, is as fast and handles as good for the money and the insurance.....

first thing to do is remove the sunroof, boot carpet, and underseal underneath and in the arches and get rid of all the rust you can't see! Fill it with waxoyl, and away you go
