5 speed my 1.2spi

Hi someone has mentioned to me i should put a 5 speed box in my 1.2i nova as it has 4 speed at the mo. Is it worth it, has anyone done it and what box would i need.

Well you'll get a 5th gear. Wont make it faster, but on long runs i suppose it'd save a little on fuel. Meh, I wouldnt bother.

Well my box is on its way out anyway, what box would i need?

An F10. Anything from any Vauxhall 1400 and Below. Cav, Astra or Corsa is your best bet. You'll also need to cut a small piece off the plastic white part at the bottom of your gear lever to allow it to select a 5th gear. If you thread search you'll see pics or have a good look at your own and see from there.

I thought all 1.2's were 5 speed after 1990......

Mine wasn't.

Also, 4th gear on the 4spd box gives about the same/similar engine revs as 5th gear on most 5speed boxes(unless its a WR)
