View Full Version : RX7's... What to look out for ?

I'm going up to look at an RX7 this week.

It's a standard Import. 3rd Gen Series 6. 52,000 Miles, totally standard car bar a replacment exhaust (not a 7" bin, As far as i can see it's a copy of the original) And it's had some Braided Brakes Hoses ! (again, i presume a long term MOT fix)

It had a full service last year by Rotatechnics.

I've poked around and am familier with 200SX's, Subarus, EVO's, 300ZXs so i'm used to the turbo asepct, but RX7's worry me slightly...

What should i be looking out for Regarding the Rotary side of things !? IIRC they have a quite a short interval for replacing the rotor tips ?

Obv, the usual Rust/Wear Tear/Bodywork is fairly standard. Any Perticularly Bad points to look for regarding corrosion !?

Thanks !

pm ck as he has just sold his, and you have to watch out for the engines as they always need a rebuild. but if you ask him he will tell you what you need to know

yes most of them go around the 60k mark so Nick be carefull of the one your going to look at! it might need a rebulid in less then 10k and arnt not a cheep engine to buy or rebulid

Yes Yes, i know they need rebuilds at more frequent intervals than a standard 4Cyl .

However, i'm after alot more info than just that.

lol yup, factory seals are worse than useless, but afaik there's a decent range of aftermarket seal kits for them which are much better.
