hi, i have a 1.2 shell with a 1.3 SR engine in it and i am wondering if insuring this will be a nightmare or not?

although its only a 1.3 and is completly standard, will this be expensive to insure?

i am expecting insurance to be pretty expensive anyway but will it make it worse when i tell them i have changed the engine to a 1.3?

cheers

Greg

In short, yes.

How old are you? Most conversion-friendly insurance companies (Flux, HIC, Sky) are 19+.

Good luck, I can see it seriously limiting the companies that'll insure you at 17.

Well, when i was 18, and had a 1.2i, i paid £1200 lol

So 17, with a converted 1300(always more expensive), id expect 1500+ if anyone will even cover the conversion

I paid £1600 on a 1.6 standard astra sport when i was 18, and was quoted £5000 on a golf gti 8v. I wouldn't be surprised at 2K plus, but as mentioned above 19+ on a lot of policies for converted vehicles.

Bradford has postcode lottery range D, E, F and "refer", although there's a couple of A's. For £2850, I would assumine you live in F or "refer"!

surprisingly my post code in reading (home, read chavtastic) is a better grading than the post code in oxford (uni, read poshtastic) ! Although i guess we do have a few council estate type housing builds nearby to this exact post code :) Was quite impressed to find my home address was so high up on grading though, was expecting a really bad one lol

edit: also I did phone up adrian flux to see what they could offer me on a 1.6 converted nova, as my mate had the engine lying around... £3200 as 19, new driver :O
