will these fit my mk2 1.2 merit? or will they rub?

17's are no good on a nova without lots of mods to your arches, heck 15's with 50 profile tyres can some times be a ball ache!

195/60/R15 down 40mm and so much arch clearance I could fit my belly in the space :D

You may get away with ET45's but even then it'll be trial and error.
