shortened XE shafts....anyone ever done it?? or is it a silly idea?? lol

Please dont do it, ive seen people do them and they have had a 45 degree angle between to the two.

I've seen some really pikey efforts & some pretty good ones. Good ones were made with a lathe & welded, sleeved & pinned.

to do it properly you would need to remove the CVs and heat treat/relieve the shaft, as welding will make it soft and hard and uneaven and crap.

you can make new shaft at your mager mants it is the best thing i think , ther are many ppl that they waldet , but if you wont the car for performance you will have truble

yes troubles with shafts will have resultage in breakage. :cry:
22 spline shafts will do the job perfectly, unless your planning over 200bhp.

yes it will be thje best but not waldet , i now some ppl that make shafts from the bigining to not wald shafts whan fiting an engine

lol was just an idea, i planned on using 22 spline, was going to experiment making a spare set...
craig - i was planning on sleeving them, for extra strength and to keep them straight etc...
thanks for the advice anyway, i knew the majority would say no lol
