how high does the 2olitre 16valve rev to? bout 8000? and can it be hightened?

The standard limiter seems to vary from about 6400-6700 depedning on which ecu you have etc.
Nova rev counters normally over read by a good 5% though, hence the fact mine shows up to 7 on the clocks.

A chip is enough to move the limiter up the range, but if you move it over 7.5K or so then really you want to be swapping rod bolts.

Unless you start playing with the induction system, ie throttle bodies, there isnt much point in going farther than 7.5K anyway tough, as you simply reach the breathing limit of the standard manifold etc.

With a decent set of tapered throttle bodies a sanadard engien will pull hard to past 8K though, as thankfully the cams (over 270 degree!) are pretty hot from the factory.

With a change in cam and some mild headwork along with a set of tpaered throttle bodies you can see pwoer to 9K revs, but id recomend a rebuild on the bottom end first with some decent pistons etc, and get EVERYTHING balanced.
