Well, ever since I sold my 1.8 Cavalier runabout, I've been in desperate need of another car. I cant take my 1.4 Nova anywhere without fear of it being stolen, and I'll obviously never drive the Turbo Nova to work lol.
This came in to a friends dealership in Newcastle, however the dealership has an auction only policy for all trade in's, with no exceptions.
So I got the date/time of the auction, and flew into newcastle on tuesday morning, went to the auction and thankfully won the bidding
It's a 1995 2.0L 16v Ecotec SRI Cavalier. It's done a good honest 46k miles and it shows. The arches are perfect, the bodywork is straight. The only blemishs are a few bumper scrapes/gash's, and laquer peeling on the spoiler, and a little bit of pinkness to the paintwork, all of which will be sorted in due course.
Its just had a very very quick clean/polish, and interior hoovered/dusted. It was absolutely filthy when I got it home last night.

Plans are:
- Refurbish wheels (anyone recommend somewhere?)
- Refurbish brakes, new discs and pads
- Paint bumpers and spoiler
- Detail paintwork
- Get new mudflaps
- Get new interior mats
This should serve me well as a nice runabout for a while.

Oh so there are some cars worth buying from our local auctions :thumb:
Refurbishing stuff is abit overkill though, i would just use it and enjoy it, without having to worry about leaving it places

sweet car that is mate, not to many left in that condition.
I've never really been a great fan of cavs, always preferred bigger barges, but that looks clean

It needs the brakes doing, and the bumpers and spoiler will just annoy me!

Oh, very nice sir! I have a Cav SRi too. It's a black, K reg (pre facelift) 20SEH one though. I should post pics as it's in top nick but it's a tad shy hehe. Going to catch the arches on it as they have some surface rust and I want to be sure it's all minty clean so I will be doing that when it goes off the road in a couple of weeks whilst I'm driving the Nova.
Im going for the record of cheapest Cav ever. Although im hankering towards another Carlton, i miss my old one like crazy!
Definately a great buy kieth!

Only when you have the knowledge!! ;)
I took this in PX but wasn't allowed to buy it due to company rules!! I basicly got all the details and told keith about it. I don't think the auctions have seen such a bidding frenzy on a Cav since about 1990!!

joe - look on the auction site itself - it says what days and what dealerships are putting in - you can also get lists emailed to you
Where'd you get it mate? I was offered one identical to it not that long ago, but it was an absolute dog, hope its not it!

Lush! I love end of the line SRi Cavvy's. I've wanted a saloon in the dark green colour for years & the dark met Blue (spectral?) is funking ace aswell. Quite possibly nicer than the GSi in some ways.
Ideal daily workhorse.

Possibly, hard to tell in ghetto'd (black wheels), debadged & blurred cam pic.

Of course its not it lol This is far from a dog.
Once I get all the tidying done, it'll be one of the best left :)

True. Its hard to find a nice one. Chances of a mint early one are practically a myth.
I dunno, I'd say mine is 95% mint :p and it was a bargain, I sold my sh**ter of a Nova for twice as much as I paid for the Cav :D

Nice buy keith, 48k seems a bit too nice for a daily driver but still, its in in well good nic for a cav.
Lynz you know it makes sense to put the seh in the nova, :thumb: me and lee had a funny idea of putting the 1.2 nova lump in the cav when we'd finished with it! lol
Bring her out some evening Keith, I got a GSi today as well, so we'll get a Cav meeting going. LOL!!

Got the paintwork machined with G3 last night, and gave it a quick polish today and dressed the plastics. Came up really really well :)

Updates!!
Looks great but fly all the way to Newcastle and then pay the ferry back??
Crazy
LOL, especially as my mate has brought a few back which are for sale. No point worrying about it now.
Seen this car in person, very very tidy aside from the bumpers. The wheels arent even that bad but then again its Keith so it has to be Mint.
Did those Central Locking regulators work for you mate?
