Typical! Gearboxs are easy enough to find tho.

With the tappeting, it could be just because the engine has been sat for a while. And did you pump the oil before starting it? (turning it over without acualy starting it)

And Red towing eye's would look kool.

And also, you cant put your plate on a older car? i thought it was the other way around?

Nah not engine out, changed them several times now without taking englne out. I just remove the shafts, passenger tie bar, gear linkage, speedo cable and clutch cable. Support the engine under the sump with trolley jack then undo the gearbox mounts and unbolt gearbox from engine. Then just lower engine on jack until you have room to get gearbox out.

It's not that awkward to be honest, I've done it with an f28 as well but that was much worse as it's bulkier and heavier.

No spare f20's, going when the let engine goes later!

Theres no seal around the shafts iirc, just make sure its all clean. Somone may correct me on this though lol.

Getting back to the gear oil issue on your XE, don't they have a drive shaft oil seal that seats in the diff and seals the gap when the shaft is in?

Some other makes certainly do and if torn (or absent) they can leak from there.

Oh, and don't adjust teh floor. Bin your splitter lol

sorry to hear about the troubles i always prefer an alarm at under £150. my mates clifford got killed after the installer put it under the passenger carpet and it got filled with water after a leak somewhere.

Bent valves for sure, mine slipped 4 teeth on idle and mashed all 8 exhaust valves and a few guides. Gutted for you.

Got a head here with all valves intact and all cam caps that I don't want much for.

It shouldn't have been wired into the engine loom anywhere really apart from the Blackjax. My car has had 4 conversions since the alarm was fitted and its not caused me any problems with wiring as its wired into the car loom.

erm, update is the E30 went on friday. not bothered at all tbh. i will be selling the purple one in about a month. my plan is to buy an old black SL500 and get it slammed on the amg rims. then once thats done il have two cars that il be very happy with then i can concentrate on other things in my life Lol. oh and the nova will be the toy still.

thats the plan anyway, just need to sort a few things out on the purple cab first and get my other reg off it :roll:

Seriours mate, dont start it, Turn it over by hand.

If it locks up then get the head off. Dont risk piston damage.

If it dont lock up then it may be fine, but tbh for piece of mind id still get the head off lol.

If it dont lock up then crank it, if your mate has a compression tester get that on there, saves you any hassle. Just dont try and start it untill your sure.

put masking tape on the carpet under the cage and draw round it then you can work out the centre and diameter of the tube and cut a neat hole and a slit to allow it to fit around tube hiding the base bolts and you can always stick the cut back in the carpet if you decide to take the cage out :thumb:

Nice work bud but you will need to fix the washer jet problem as im sure that will not be something you can be let off with, its three penalty points for no washer fluid, so it also stands to reason that it would be the same for inoperative washers, as the way the law sees it is that if something smears your screen while driving you are unable to wash it off.
