Lads and Lasses,

As some of you maybe aware, I no longer own a Nova, I still take part, and get to drive CP's, but I have to admit I own a Clio. Because of this, I do visit www.cliosport.co.uk on a regular basis. Now some of the boys on there are wanting to organise a Nova V Clio shoot out in early October. They seem very confident that they can wipe the floor with us. The idea would be to put like against like, i.e 1.2 v 1.2, 2.0 v 2.0 etc.

Anyone interested in teaching em a lesson?

MC

I've got a 2002 Sport 1.2 16v. I've been very impressed. The equiptment level is really high, the Brakes are fantastic and it handles really well. 75bhp as std, and I'm looking at getting that near 125bhp.

Is your Diesel in the sport range? Is it the 65bhp or 80bhp 1.5d?

I can't help you regarding the 1.8 16v I'm affraid. Doesn't sound too bad.

I think the Clio boys were looking at the 6th Oct at York, but thats open to discussion.

Might get mag coverage too.

mines the 75bhp one, the 80bhp one came out a few weeks after i bought mine, Whats been done to urs MC??

Im impressed with the handling of mine and ur right the brakes are very good. Ive had it since April and have done over 12000 miles and aint had a single prob with it and it cruises at 100 no probs, looks pretty good as standard too.

Hearn- I've got a 1.8 16v clio, i paid 2650 for mine, its an L -reg and is in mint condition 72k on the clock. 1850 sounds good to me, although obviously condition and milage are important on such a purchase, what are they?

It has just turned 100k, with service history. The arches seem fine, no rust spots. The alarm don't work either. A little fade on the mirrors but thats bout it - Im not too keen on the OZ's, if i buy it (and im seriously considering it) then the wheels wud go and 16"s would be on. Not sure what wheels suit the clio - tried going to cliosport.co.uk but it wasn't working.

Sounds good. Front arches are plastic tho, so they are never gonna rust ;) You sometimes get a bit of rust on the boot door, where the lock is(interior) not too serious tho. 100k isn't bad, engines go on to about 130k(prior to rebuild etc) All sounds good :)

i think what you actually wanted was www.cliosport.net ;)

lol ill have it, do these clio boys actually know what they are letting themselves in for? lmao

are there any especially quick clios about? 172's williams and v6s arent much cop really. most 2.0 novas would kill very easily

like Ian says above not meaning to be rude but it would be abit of a joke my m8s dad has the 172 model and my almost standard valver can dust it no probs. its the same old story with newer cars they arnt as agressive as the old hot hatches. could do with a nice dry day tho for the nova boys to lay all our power down tho

right i maybe wrong here,
but think bout the power to weight ratio.
a 1.3 with the inside taken out would beat a 1.4 wouldnt it?
well think every1 shuld show the french how shit there cars r.lol
shame they dont do a 1.3 coz id love to race,
but il have to do sum work on the car 1st

most newer clio's wont be a match engine for engine since they are so heavy

my 1.2i can match my mates pug (1.4 75bhp) to 60 even tho its only got 45bhp

the fact that the nova's are so light should give us a VERY good chance of winning most of the races

now hows it gonna be setup? 1/4mile strip?

yes im up for this :)

i want a 0-60 or 1/4 mile time for my car :)

did they do a 1.6 16v clio or will i haveto say mine is a 1.4 as it says on the back of me car :)

well iv had a few drag races with my m8s 106 gti, which is down in the book at 0-60 in 7.6s, and hes had it chipedm decat/filter and of course runs on optimax like me :)

so im guessing my 0-60 would b around 7-8 secs :)

thats cool MC, me mum had a 1.2 16v a while back and i got to drive that, was quite impressed aswell, my 1.4 is a L-reg with 70k, bought it cos it was in v.good cond, ans surprising cheap to insure, cheaper than me 1.2 nova, haha !!!! mine seems a bit quicker to even tho has same bhp (75), handling is utter shite tho, esp in the wet, get ski round corners !!!! will be returning to nova's in feb with hopefully a gsi :)

i'd be up for coming to watch the shootout aswell !!!!
