Is the CV gonna touch the sump ? if not then cant see it causing any problems to be honest.

Some people have fitted the small block gearboxes to a big block engine, but it required a few major mods IMHO. If the CV joint is close but not touching, whats the problem? Usual way as I'm sure you are aware is to fit a F16,18 or 20 G/Box with modded shafts.

the cv joint is tuching to the sump yes is ther any oter slimer cv joints ? the gear box fitts exectly on the 20xev , if ther is no other cv joints i can cutt a litil pice of the sump wich is use less but if ther are a slimer cv joint is beter

just fit an F16 and mess with the shafts. Far easier.

F16/F20 is the best way to go about it, theres quite a few horrow stories about f13s exploding with big block engines.

Its your choice.

I know 1.6 rally cars running a standard f13 with 145bhp and not having any probs.

I think my 2lire 8valve project is running a f13 box... will check! When the car runs lol

i would say its a must using an f16/f20.

a friend put a c20ne (2ltr 8v) in his nova using the original f13. he had to space the engine away from the box about 5mm as the clutch itself was rubing against the inside of the gearbox.

he went through about 4 gearbox in the space of a few weeks. even pulled the cross member right off on the drivers side. on one gearbox change he didnt realise the box he put in was 4speed hahaha i pissed my self lol

what you have to think about is the extra torque available from the big block engine compared to the small block...

and yes with regard to big and small block all gearbox's are interchangable ie f10/f13/f15/f16/f18/f20/f25/f28 they will all swap around, just gotto use the correct flywheel and clutch combo...

My 1.6 turbo was just shy of 180lb/ft. My F13 never groaned, whined or anything. Clutch coped admirably too, despite my love for full throttle, slip launches.

An XEV isnt gonna have masses of torque & as there is a tidy little weight saving over a big block box, it makes some sense to me.

If it were an XE or LET & the owner has plans of burnouts & long wheel spins then I would suggest a big block box tbh.
