Stop txt typing, and its worth waiting a bit more than 10mins for a reply,Lol.

Anyways, you need to change the stud plates on the axle to suit discs, handbrake cable also needs changing.

This is how a beam was done I bought. It uses the M-tec kit which is based around using an astra GSi handbrake cable. The plates are the same as chris' tho.

Old holes filled in and new ones drilled as per plate pattern...

I then put the guide tubes for the cable here...

This beam also has an extra support/guide for the cable as you can see in the 1st pic. Don't know if its really neccessaey tho.

vectra stuff sits on the bottom doesn't it? I'm using an astra gsi cable on my vectra 5 stud beam. You will need a little bracket thing making up tho. Otherwise you can use nova long and short off a mk2 cav.

I pick up my new 5 stud converted beam today so will put up pics tonight/tomorrow.

here you go chief...

You need to notch out the beam for the top left nut slightly...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/TheSimps/Nova/Nova%20Coupe%20Project/05-05-08.jpg

I then moved the old handbrake guide round a bit so the cable didn't touch the axle. I then welded in a bit of tube for the astra gsi cable. Mine is a bit high at the mo and I'm gonna re do it sitting lower (like in the 2nd pic) as its close to the chassis when running low). You'll also need to trim a section out of the conversion plate so the cable doesn't fool but that'll be easy to see once you get it on.

you'll need to make up one of these to run the astra cable. the middle prong goes into the guide on he tunnel.

why do people go to the truble in doing all this? why not fit the vw rear caliper? the kit can be picked up for about £80 with no fabricating required just a case of bolting it all together.

Clearly this conversion isnt all that commonly known about. Plus a lot of people would sooner keep to GM parts perhaps. I think I'd have a try with the Golf stuff if I did it again.

If you do the setup as I have above and make the aeroplane shape bracket you can use the astra gsi cable.

ok here goes,
all you need is a set of MK2 golf rear calipers and discs and a set of mounting plates which you can get from pro tec for £80 i think.
It all bolts together dead easy no welding!!!!!!
When i did my conversion i got alloy calipers off MK 5 golf and the mounting bracket off MK2 calipers. the VW calipers are 10 times better than the Vaux ones in my opinion.:thumb:
