i placed a large sheet of mdf under my boot carpet and bolted the sub down to that in my golf. that way i can fold the rear seats down and tilt the sub backwards to slide the spare wheel out.

My spare wheel is perminently behind my passengers seat because of my MDF floor and sub.

This isn't a problem as i don't carry people in back anyway because i just don't want to mess up my suspension etc..

I can see you have a sub and 2 amps with the power cap but what is that down bottom rite ??? and what is the main purpose of powercaps ?

Them in the bottom right corner look like components but can't tell picture is well blurry.

Power cap - The capacitor let's loose some energy to compensate and help save the battery.

Don't use a small cap on a big amp though!

power cap is a waste of time end of, the little blocks in the right hand corner ar distrobution blocks for power and earth cables... sorry for spelling...lol

Rite well at the min i have got 2 x jbl 1000watts , now i want to use these to there full potential , and to be onnest i dont really have a clue about systems ... i also have

JBL Head unit 4 x 50watt
Warfdale surroundsound speakers in dash 2 x 50watt
Phillips door speakers in front 2 x 110 watts i think
Kenwood 6x9's both 240 watts
2 x JBL 10 inch subs can anyone suggest what sort of amps would best suit me in my position and to be onnest i dont fancy takin all the dash off again so i arnt really bothered about a amp for the dash and door speakers possible one for the 6x9's and obviously 1 for the subs .. any ideas welcome

I would like a powercap by the sounds of it then ....

if 6x9's are all hes got, its not all bad. just make sure you amp 'em and stick to a high pass filter with them. thats all i've done with mine, the 6x9's are indestructable so i just leave them on high pass, and if the sub blows, you have a temp backup!

By the looks of it your shelf isn't a reinforced MDF shelf.

Please make it into 1 as it will be better for your speakers and sound.

No mate your rite its the standard one , i never really thort about it but now you have mentioned it , that is another task for me to do this week end as i dont particulary like the shade of blue anyway and was thinking of recovering it . Thinkin about it i mite just have to go to scrappers as i think one of the pins or something is broken on it as if i move it side to side , even half inch the little buggar falls down so ......

Making a shelf doesn't take long either and doesn't need to be perfect and it will be covered anyway with carpet.

I was looking at this the other day.

This should be fine.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JBL-GTO-1201-1-MONO-BRAND-NEW-UK-STOCK-GTO1201-1-SUB_W0QQitemZ230247963137QQihZ013QQcategoryZ18797Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If i'm wrong then someone please correct me lol.

I would be buying it now for my kicker if i had any dosh.

Either that or a kicker mono block.

Just depends how much you got to spend.

jbl is usually good strong cheap-ish stuff, but i've used fli with no problems for a few years. basically go with the best you can afford, trying to match the power with the rms for the sub as best as possible (please correct me if im wrong!)

Like i say i arnt really clued up on the whole lot but it does interest me a bit , a do like the look and sound of a big a$$ system basically and i can see this being a small start to the big wide world of in car audio . :D

Ps: Cheers NovaLad , i saw this and this is roughley the sort of money i would be willing to pay ..... although i do have 2 splx subs in a double sub box in ok condition that i would be very willing to trade / part ex for a amp , if anyone is interested the subs are in mint condition and both work perfectly .
