seems a bit steep mate...

phone around some places in the yellow pages and get some other quotes - try and play them off against each other a bit.

Or - ask if anyone else in the sheffield area on here fancies doing you a favour :D

no way m8!! :o :o water pump our way ?28 brand new fitting it is well easy if your not to mechanicaly minded id say the hardest part for you would be making sure your cam belt is fitted correct, but id do the cam belt while your at it unless youve done it recently??

also take into account if the water pump has been in there for years and years it could have rusted in (as mine did) and having a car by the side of the road doesnt make life easy. We had to chisel away at mine from EVERY angle!!!!came out in about 15 chunks. twas stuck solid. A lot of places around here charge around ?40 for a cam belt change, so if you get them to change that as well, and flush your system (since they gotta empty it anyway), that'll save a few bucks. try talking them into giving the car a service for a cheaper price. Whenever I have to take something to the garage I always take my own parts, works out cheaper. You also know exactly how much there trying to charge you labour. I wouldnt pay more then ?40-50 (with me supplying pump and cam belt) for these to be changed. then again im in with my mechanic.

?160 is stupid. have you considered driving to another town and gettin it done there. ring up

right ive gota be honest.
how can he drive to anther town, tow yeh but not drive,
right round here theres nowt on the road so u can get away with it,
but in a town the traffic tend to b slower,
and he needs lots of cold air going thro that grill and raditor to coold the engine

just make sure they are doing the cam belt at the same time, and thats its an original vuax belt, not too serious about the waterpump!!

make sure you keep receipt for cam belt and the fiting etc (helps to sell car and if it breaks in near future)

yeah he's putting a new cam belt on, and antifrezze as he'll be emptying system anyway, all for ?85 job lot.
