Mike
02-05-08, 09:27 AM

Dod
02-05-08, 09:30 AM
Its also Jap so he'll be badly effected by the rise in price of Oil Prices as well.

Jack
02-05-08, 09:34 AM
2 weeks and it overheats, if it isn't already lol. 3 weeks and the headgasket blows.

There's a reason why 185s are quite a lot cheaper than 205s lol

ANDYRACER
02-05-08, 09:47 AM

IT HATH BEGUN!!!

Jack

Gearbox failure FTW, say hello to box rebuild time lol

Sounds pretty much the same as my 205. The Celica boxes are pretty notchy anyway though, and the clutch cylinders often wear and give difficulty going into and out of gears. I don't think the 185 has the same problem with the linkage bushes that the 205 does, but that would be loose gearchange, not stiff.

Either way, do the clutch and get the box out and reconditioned at the same time :D

Incidentally, does this mean someone won the sweepstake? Or are we going to complete failure (which will happen if he leaves the box as is, mine started losing gears left right and centre lol)

Stuart

I guess "generally whinging about it" might come under this.... but hes not bitched about it persay (yet)

Jack
14-05-08, 03:10 PM

Stuart
19-05-08, 02:47 PM

Gearbox is fine, its my clutch.

Not surprised tho, clutches are sh1t on 185's anyway.

It goes in a week tomorrow for an Exedy Organic clutch and a cambelt. :thumb:

Clutch on a ST185 is the worst job i've ever done on any car, wish i'd left it to the garage in the end but they all wanted £500 plus to do it.

ANDYRACER
27-05-08, 11:02 PM
Mine goes in on Friday and is costing me £150. :D

Oh and any pics of your old one Lee?

Take it is a mate doing it then as no way would a garage do it for that, its about a days work as engine, transfer box all has to come out?

Might have some pics at home I can upload tonight, same colour as yours but still with JDM rear end.

Yeh my mate owns a garage and is doing it cheap. :D
He reckons he can do it with the engine in place but by removing the transfer box.
Ill await your pics. :thumb:

I know the 205 can be done with the engine in, would have thought the 185 could as well... although its a bit tighter for space on them

Lee H
28-05-08, 10:25 PM
As requested the Celica.

On Facebook this morning....

Andy Bohen (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=537125159) is seriously considering selling the celica when it cost him £70 to fill to get 220 miles!!! Hmm Golf Vr6 seem tempting! 7h ago

:p

Jack
27-06-08, 07:57 AM
LMFAO I'd be happy with 220 miles on £70... lol

Thats a bit much tbh, especially considering there's no mention of the HG being done

Who won the bet then? lol

[edit] ditchfinder tyres! Argh!

Adam
11-08-08, 04:06 PM
Ditchfinder?
Nowt wrong with Kumho's :p

Jack
11-08-08, 04:10 PM
Maybe not on a Nova, but I speak from experience that on a GT4 they are utter toss. The 185 is heavier than the 205 as well lol

Adam
11-08-08, 04:11 PM
Which type of Kumho Ecsta btw? (KU?)

Stuart
11-08-08, 04:22 PM
3 months

Looks like Dar is the winnnaaaarrr

also for the record, I run Kumho KU31 Ecsta's on the back end of the VX and they are spot on perfect wet or dry.

Jack

Sport something or other, can't remember now

Decent tread pattern, but hard rubber

Lee H

Way over priced, I struggled to get £1300 for mine with MLS headgasket, ARP's and fully rebuilt engine.
