Well I picked the new car up on friday and it's been in the garage ever since so it'll hopefully be looking ok for trax.

Heres pics of how it was to begin with.

The car as vauxhall intended. ugly as hell and higher than a glastonbury regular.

http://members.lycos.co.uk/saxokiller/BLKnova/blkcc.jpg First Mod. A set of clear rear clusters. :D :D :D Need to find a red foglight bulb now though. :(

I spent a few hours yesterday tearing my hands to shreds getting the 2 dashboards out of my cars and this afternoon put the black GSi dash in my new one. Oh also removed all offending tacky sticker, rear badges, and coachlines (with a help from my girlfriend and her hairdryer.

Tomorrow night i'm going to have to get the old car on axle stands and rob it of wheels, brakes and suspension

Then tuesday night get all the suspension and brakes on the new car.

Wednesday i'll swap the front bumper and mesh the grille then it's on with the task of polishing it all up for the weekend

Theres glue from where the badges and tramlines were and marks on the windows from all the silly crap they've had in them. If anybody has any tips or tricks on how best to get rid of sticker residue please speak up and save me some time.

Hi Mate.

It's only a 1.0 with 4 speed box (should make the 3 hours to trax a fun drive, NOT!). Although i have the option of my 1.4 engine or 2l8v engine depending on the insurance company.

Yup its a unit i share with 2 other lads. The Renault 5 is having a new engine as the old one went pop (surprise surprise)

The other nova is my old one being raped for spares.

The Mk1 golf is getting rebuilt with a 2l16v engine on twin 45s

Fecking busy up there at the mo.

Well not worth repairing. It's getting stripped for spares then scrapped.

As you say. black looks better anyways.

a huge 500 quid. Thats for a 2 owner car 1991 H 77000 miles FSH

With only 3 real faults on the bodywork.

1 small dint in passenger door
Bubble rust starting to appear around fuel cap (to be replaced by welded in aero style)
Rear arches may become a problem after winter.

But still cheaper to sort out than buying a different colour and paying for a respray and in much better condition than all other saloons i looked at including ones described as immaculate.

Halfords Tar remover is good for getting any bits of glue off the body work. A fair bit of elbow grease is needed, along with a wash and a polish afterwards.

Glad to see you've gone for a black Nova...Black ones are the best
