Friend of mine is really into his beetles. Great fun as they're so basic, his entire wiring loom consists of about 3 or 4 wires lol

Although, first thing you need to buy is a fire extinguisher. One of the (new!) fuel lines on his developed a leak, which spat fuel all over the distributor. Flames ensued, luckily he had an extinguisher in the car and managed to douse the flames in the first few seconds before things got out of hand and the whole car went up.

Those are still made in Mexico IIRC. Parts WONT be a problem either. They're dead simple and straight forward.

I have a feeling they've just recently stopped the mexican production.

Maybe GM could sell the Nova designs to the mexicans lol

First things first, un-bolt the chassis into its two halfs ;) makes a restro easier. Headlinings in mint condition are incredibly hard to source these days aswell as original seats and dash parts.

Engines a known for seizing if left for 12months or so though (from mine & a good friends experience)

I helped a mate build a Porsche 911 engined one when I was 19, fcuking awesomely fast! Used 996 Front brakes and Corrado VR6 front brakes on the rear lol

EDIT: Flat screen aswell! You lucky b@stid! How much you pay for it anyway? Our mate had an imported Flat screen soft top and hard top about 5 years ago.

The only problem with this is that most of these cars are rusted so badly you cant find the bolts. And when you can they wont unbolt, but i do agree, its a greta help when working at them.

just read through mate and if you can avoid a body off then do so as you can replace floors and heater channels just as easily with it all intact and they are easier to line up.
as for lowering it can be done for free, rear end is a case of removing the spring plates on the rear and turning a couple of splines then refitting ( dont pull the torsion bars out or youre ballsed general rule is one spline goes just under 2 inches, as for the front you want to remove the beam cut 1.5 inches either side of the middle rotate it about 1/4 of a turn and reweld it ( take the torsion leaves out though) or buy adjusters that weld inplace of the center there cheap and easy to fit.
