Hey peeps, just wanted to know if anyone from the site has any spare parts for Weber 40's, maybe CP, MC?

I've got my 40's from Austin_Nova's 16V but they are jetted and choked for a 2L, and the price for all the new bits i needed amounted to approx ?248 :o

I'm after all these bits:

4 x 28mm Chokes
4 x 100 Main Jets
4 x 59 f 21 Idle Jets
4 x 160 Air Correctors
4 x 40 Pump Jets
4 x F47 Emulsion Tubes

Does anyone have any of these parts lying around? Obviously i can pay for them, and for p+p if necessary, but just not new prices!

Cheers :D

Sorry, I haven't got any parts left, but if you post up all of the sizes you have in your carbs now, I'll tell you if you can re-use them. Things like emulsion tubes aren't CC related, more like driving characteristics.

You canuse 30mm chokes quite easily on a 1400.

The chokes are 36mm which i think is a bit too large :(

I got all the sizes above from Total Vauxhall's Nova Sport guide.

Will see if CP replies and then post on Mig i expect, as they have a huge amount of users :) Someone must have the bits!

Cheers for the help though!

I know CP incredibly well, his inside leg measurement is...... I'm pretty sure he won't have any, as I'm in his workshop all the time, and know my way around.

OK, 36mm is far too big, but have you taken the emulsions out yet? The Nova sport was a 1.3, so don't rely on those sizes. You'll find that the emulsion you list probably isn't the best available now. I ran my 1.4 with 120-130 mains, 185 air and 45 pump jet.

I did have head work, zorst and a cam though.

The ough guide to sizes can be found on the net. For main jet size, you multiply the choke size by 4, so 30x4 = 120, then add 60 to get air jet. Pump jet isn't so straight forward, and idle should be large enough so that the carbs don't splutter as you move onto the mains.

Hmmm, i doubled check the Nova sport sizes with this program on the internet that someone on Mig posted up, and they came up pretty much the same.

My engine also has a 4-1 manifold and straight through centre section, head work, and will have a new cam soon :)

What sort of 1/4 mile times did your 1.4 run MC?

Yeah, but you don't have a sport. You have a 1.4 Sr which will be different in its requirements.

I never did a 1/4 mile in the 1.4, It would have been in the high 15's I think.

Soz m8 can't help. The only twin 40 jets about what you want at my place are in my dads Lotus Cortina. Messing with his car is a capital offence adminstered by means of a very powerful deer stalking rifle lol!

Try buying CCC - there are quite often bits in there plus there's a parts wanted section for you to use if you want?

Yes it is real, I think he's had it from new, and its not only mint, but a marvel of engineering concidering the era it was built in.

It is real. It's a fully restored genuine MK1 complete with ally doors, boot and bonnet lids. Reg no. 84 NTM. It was made around 1963 and was used as a demonstrator at a local garage for a few months until the garage bloke had to sell it cos he was getting in trouble speeding all the time. My dad bought it for about ?700 - my mum nearly divorced him over it cos that was a lot of money in those days lol! He's had it ever since and had it restored about 20 years ago ( about ?10k & nearly another divorce lol). He had the big valve head conversion done on it at the same time lifting the power to getting on for 140hp.

In his day he used to eat anything round the twisty stuff. His favourite victims were e-type Jags cos they handled fairly badly and had scarily shit brakes. He's now approaching 70 and still razzes about in it but takes it off the road for winter. He's at the Goodwood pre 65 event this weekend where he's got himself and the car in and parked trackside for about ?5 lol. Ahh the benefits of being old......

i dont know if you have seen it but there is a program on discovery home and leisure called a car is reborn.

in one series he restored an E type jag. and on this he had guset appearences from all classic car enthusiasts that had restored old classics and the guy who had the Lotus Cortina had it full race spec with a cage and all that mallarky.
it was very tastefull and went like fcuk, they took it round knock hill

this sunday me and my brother are going to have a look at a MK1 RS2000 shell (escort) the guy promises its original but have seen 3 wannabe's so far so not holding out that much hope :?
