Aaaaah. Cheers for clearing that up mate, I often wondered. :thumb:
Just received a manifold of the XE of Luke from Corsasport...
it's look's slighly oversized, with a zafira cat, with corsa fitment on the end :)
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/DSC_0325.JPG
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/DSC_0326.JPG
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/DSC_0328.JPG
Thats a bit beefy, is it larger than the standard XE Manifold?
slightly yes...
only really wanted it, due to cat, and stright corsa fitment lol
lol
Cant argue with that. I got dimensions of an XE Manifold that is said to increase power by a savage amount when paired with a good diameter system. Want me to copy it and post it in here?
well i got a good bore cat back system..
2.5" lol
post away if you want :)
Nicked of Cavalier Crazy.
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r180/chadbad/Exhaustmanifoldlayout.jpg
The dude that posted it reckons that the manifold can unleash 20bhp as Vauxhall had restricted the engine to make it more usable.
Picked up some new wheels today ;)
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/wheels.jpg
aye - bit too easy that, should of cropped it more lol

be sure to bend down the eighth upward vent on the 8v baffle plate, else you'll be pretty damn annoyed if you have to whip everything back off again due to the conrod hitting it :thumb:
cheers for the tip olly, i'll remember thats :)
Gen parts eh Ste. Autovaux?
You'll need shorter sump bolts for that 8v gasket too.
Or space them out with a few washers/cut bolts down. I think i had 4 washers on each bolt on my last xe lol
trackdaynova
18-09-08, 08:28 PM
use the baffle plate from the 8v part # 90528632. It comes complete with rubber gaskets (proper ones) attached from the factory. Dead easy to fit, no leaks afterwards. The 8v sump bolts (Vaux # 90531211) are M6x13 instead of M6x22 of the 16v sump. These are a bit on the short side. It's best to use M6x20, or at least use the longer 16V bolts with a 2mm spacer to make up the difference.
From my build thread Ste - should you want to order some hex bolts like I did from eBay :)
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q161/neocapture/nc0582.jpg
garethcolley
23-09-08, 12:53 PM
which is the 8th upward vent by the way? ive just bought one of these.
trackdaynova
23-09-08, 01:14 PM
The baffle plate from the 8v is left, the 16v on the right. Notice how the 8v has the rubber gasket fitted from the factory.
Also note the detail that may need bending back so it doesn't touch any of the reciprocating parts
http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/images/baffleplates8v_vs_16v.jpg
Hope this helps :)
Gen parts eh Ste. Autovaux?
nah, Jav off mig...
From my build thread Ste - should you want to order some hex bolts like I did from eBay :)

after

Much better, what did you use?
gunk and a jetwasher

still need's a litter more cleaning, but it'll do for me
had a quick mince at the garage today...
out comes rad
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/S8000870.JPG
followed by airbox, headertank & battery tray
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/S8000871.JPG
followed by manifold and im left with this..
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/S8000875.JPG
also disconnected clutch, engine loom, accelerator cable,
all that left to do now is, gear linkage & fuel pipe's, then i and whip engine out
found out a few things to day - need a new rad, as the 1.0 12v is different
and the post 97 or 1.0 12v had different mounts for the front mount on the air box, so my pre-97 gsi one wont fit - sorted that though, can use the car's original bottom, with gsi top half
and thats all folk's :thumb:
LMAO at that engine, looks like something out of a golf cart
i know, it's bloody tiny, i could prob fit the bay not, all the stuff removed lol

1600 8v head bolts thats what i used cheap at a tenner a set from the motor factors need to be cut down a little but right size and pitch thread etc as the standard bolts will be too short
Picked up an OMP half cage today...
it's not a proper FIA one, but it'll do the job, when it's been welded in

Is that one of the OMP cage's they have in the Deamon thieves advert in the cat?
Scott
no, thats a 6/10 point one, front and rear...
would rather have one of them, but with this still being a daily driver too, half cage is more practical
this is the one from demon tweeks, but it usually doesn't have the X, just a diagonal

also like the rear leg, to b piller tags too :thumb:
nice! What make cage ste?
not a bloody clue john lol...
might ask the guy i bought it off see if he knows
and cheers Mr H ;)
****! Sell me the front section you homo lol lol
Aye, smart cage that Ste, how much you get it for? (Rear leg > B pillar bar is a must IMO if your using the cage for what is REALLY designed for)
was £300... good price, i think considering a new omp one, with less bar's etc is nearly £400, then i'd need the door bars etc welding on, and it painted...
will be doing a few track days in it, if that's what you mean about using it for what it's built for lol
just get the bloody engine fitted now lol

Good price that Ste old chap!!
lol the extra tagged bars IMO wont be needed for a track car (as in, in the event of a tank slapper total loss) but for serious competition where cars freqeuntly leave the track/road at a high speed, mostly backwards, then they are needed lol
just get the bloody engine fitted now lol
got a week off in Jan, so if it's warm i may consider it lol
also temped to buy a set of cams now, so that'll push fitting the engine back later

well, still a nice little bit to add to the tech spec, needed or not lol
True North West Mincers :D
well, still a nice little bit to add to the tech spec, needed or not lol
Oh hell yeah, ill adding the same bars to mine once the weather improves. May aswell being as im back there welding in a brace so be silly not to really lol
true, not really much more effort, as you can weld...
also, it's got load's of mad little tube's and bit on the cage, will upload of pic of them in a min
it's got these on the front leg's
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/S8000037.JPG
and these in various places on the cage

Them little brackets - this cage has been tagged into A/ B pillars before :thumb: not welded into them though, just bolted so you can remove/sell it ;)
The little tubes - Same things, not and bolt it to parts of the shell.

then i went to change belt and water pump...
didn't realise pot fly was resting on engine stand, so bottom pully wouldn't turn.. killed off one of my halford pro rachets :(
so, not having an engine crane i had to lower engine to floor on my own, remove the stand
flywheel being removed, (fly wheel locking too is part of my engine stand )
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/Image00031.jpg
lifted back up, got cam belt off
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/7578/Image00033.jpg
then as i snapped the rachett, i couldn't get the water pump out, as it's the one i use for the allen sockets
so gave up on the engine work for now, as i couldn't be arsed to pack away, to go get a new one, then un pack everything..

yep, and not covered by the lifetime garantee, so i'll have to pay for a new one..
may see if i can blag on on the garantee though ;)
go to the stupidest looking assistant there (although i realise you could spend time working that out if its anything like my local one lol) and see how it goes
well i have some torx scocket's replaced today, some old dude did it, no questions asked - even though i need a reciept but he didn't ask for one..
so may try him lol

My xe on a stand is the same(the fly jammed against the stand), but if you loosen two of the frame to engine bolts slightly i can turn the engine over on mine. Spacing the bolts with washers helps too.
How the fook did you get the engine on the floor and then lifted back up on your own with no crane?
by lifting it lol
basically, while still on stand, lowered it slowly to floor, whipped stand off, then fly..
bolted back up to stand, and lifted up on to wheel aagin

I was looking for one to move my battery on my nova, geez, all the bolt on ones seemed to be rotten, and the weld on ones were fine
This thread makes me want a corsa B :tard:
TBH, i really do prefer driving the Corsa to a Nova :thumb:

went in today to get the innards, took my rachet with me, and the guy behind the counter just gave me a brand spanking new rachet, no questions asked..
bonus :D
win mate. this makes me want a corsa even more...... and thats a dirty thought for me..
whats the spec of ya xe? std? and what shafts and mounts are ya using? sorry for the questions btw!
just a late dispac xe, with standard coscast head, janspeed 4-2-1, with 2.5" cat back scorpion exhaust 3.5" tailpipe..
gsi shafts, with 1600 cav inner
chris astley engine mount
courtney chassis mount
lowered tie bar mounts
hopefully in the future will have solid rubber mounts and polybushes
nice. will be good. imo the xe goes in a corsa easier and better than a nova..
not much diff about fitting in either..
except not as much welding, and no chassis leg mod's for alt

Ste just fill the gaps on the monts with a semi-flexi silcone type based sealer, that should stiffen them up enough.

Reading threads like this actually makes a corsa xe alot more appealing than a nova xe. Looking good mate, progress picking up. Shouldn't be long 'till you have her done. :thumb:

Humm might be worth looking into making one though, if it would dial out roll on th rear more?
could try using a cav one, be much cheaper getting one, and if it doesn't fit, not a huge loss
