welding steel tubes to fit to bucket seats

:thumb:hi everyone,
any help at all with this or just general advise would be cool, got a pair of omp 'extra' bucket seats base mount, however no matter who i ring or send e-mails out to i allways get the same responce they dont stock base mount sub frames for the nova anymore....guttted, :cry:

so this is my idea, either modify my standered nova subframes..... or rip it all out and weld in to steel bars to mount the seat to, similar to ''green track day nova''

not fussed about the seat sliding, aslong as its not too high or low, as long as it fits and is secure and strong. :thumb:

I've currently got my corbeau forza's mounted in using nova subframes, and I don't like it... Not thats it not safe, well they not as secure as I'd like...

I recently posted the same question, and general opinion was to use 25*25mm box section and bolt them to that. Thinking about bolting the passenger seat to the floor and as far back as possible. Then fitting the driver's seat how i want it.

nice one cheers for the help....yeah as i say the drivers seats is gonna be fixed...cant go too far back with the passenger seat....think it will hit the cage

Yeh, mine's the same...

They don't need to see where they're going anyway... Adss tot he thrill lol

I started grinding bits at the weekend to weld some plates in for the cage and stitch up the rear turrets. Found that when the rear seat mounts had been removed the guy filled the top of the rear arch... :( Finally got to bare metal, so all good lol

Don't bolt the seats straight to the floor, as in a crash/roll the floorskin would probably tear.

haha yeah not a chance, think im gonna bolt the seats to couple of bars welded between the center console metal and the side bit at the doors?!

Thats the way you want to do it. thats what i aim to do this weekend :)

Be carefull when you carry out your welding job.
You should weld in 3-5mm spreader plate onto the sill and tunnel areas to help carry the load of not just the seats but you as well.
I've seen the sills and tunnel rip open on a rally car, he had no spreader plates installed, the seat moved during the crash, injuring him badly.
