nipped out this morning for the beef and veg to morrisons, and on the way back down the link road,i saw this little white car flying up in the rear view mirror,so i though drop a cog and see ya,but that wasnt to be.this little ax gt went past me(with two young lads grinning) with ease:( surely this cant be standard?

I saw one at pod that had a VTS engine and nitrous IIRC, they are even worse than novas for shoddy bodywork and tin foil chasis so I can imagine they shift with a little power.

Lets face it a AX is going to go round corners worse than a XE nova on G-Max 60mm springs.

Why is it?

I heard they didn't handle too well and were pretty good at rolling over

In standard form maybe?

Lets face it, nova's aren't the best handling of cars as std either lol

Exactly, with the wing mirrors rubbing the road whilst cornering lol

lol standard novas are bad, but ax's are something else. You get more of a reaction when trying to corner in a oil tanker than an ax and the boat still has the upper hand as they dont normally roll over when attempting to change direction.

I know of a couple 106 GTi engined AX's, with a selection of various brand T/B's and management etc etc a 200bhp 1.6 AX is quite something.

theres a lad with one that has a vts engine converted to turbo in an anthracite ax kickin out over 200bhp on somethin like 14psi boost, my m8 had a vtr with a turbo off a 2.5 shogun on and that shifted a bit as well, was pikey'd on a bit but worked, had 2 head gaskets 2 lower the compression. sh*t its gearbox in about 200 miles tho lol

Some old fella in an AX (wasn't even a GT lol) overtook me once coming back from Bristol down the A37. In my defence I was so asleep I didn't actually notice what was going on until he started creeping past me on the wrong side of the road, literally doing about 3mph faster than me. Backed off to let him past, he then proceeded to whip round a windy section of road like he was on rails lol

Only thing was, yes he was cornering damned well but had absolutely no speed out the corner whatsoever. A couple of times I nearly rammed into the back of him as his exit speed was so slow lol
