I'm fed up running ym buckets on nova subframes, having my head on the lining and the wobbling :(
So, this weekend i want to weld in some box section to mount them to!

What size box section is needed? What needs to be removed? etc etc Pics of previous attempts would be really appreciated!!

Also, if anyone has any pics of how they've welded they're cages in :) I mean the plates to mount them to :thumb:

Cheers

Chris :thumb:

Try a few of the "Project" Threads. I was passing through there and saw a few very detailed How to Style Posts complete with Pics.

i recently done mine i will put pics up shortly the only problem i had with mine when using an omp cage is the seats hit the cage and limit how far they slide

Dar's project thread has some good pics.

25x25mm box section should suffice.

buy some nova gsi subframes, then chop the good bits off and weld them to your after market subframes then mount into the nova..

Cheers guys! I'm currently using GTE subframe, but they're not secure enough and sit so high!!

As the car is purely going to be used for track I don't mind chopping out existing brackets to weld some box section in. Just wondered on size and positioning. And with the cage, whether to weld plates to both sides of the car?!?

Yeah, works well in theory but i wave this set up and the seat moves under heavy cornering.

Thats what mines like currently with the GTE subframes...

Thinking about mounting the passenger seat to floor as low as poss and as far back and having it fixed. Then positioning the drivers side perfect for me :)

Forgot to ask, what thickness plate do I require? And... Where's the best place to buy box section and sheet steel?

Any engineer firm, for the steel plate, 4mm or 6mm will definately be plenty
