hi all. I rang jnc racing today to see about a c20let conversion and they quoted me rufly £7000. thats if you just take a nova (stanard) into there shop and they will do evrything for you i.e all welding brakes suspension the lot... just wanting to no if the price is a bit steep or would it be cheaper to do the conversion myself with a lillte help.. thanks dan

Hugely cheaper to do yourself. Bear in mind though it will be done properly at JNC.

Does that include the engine?

DIY you'd get change from £3k if you buy a good condition engine.

yeah thats including the engine... but he was basing it on a nova he had there what he was working on that was his bill. but he says hes had it a while now looking for the right engine!!

yeah thats true. ive owned 3 novas since i was 15 a silver gte just as a project, deep blue nova not sure what engine but the bloke i brought it off sed it was a 1.6. and a baby blue nova sr 1.4.. than i got a punto sporting 1.4 booooo!! but now ive been banned i just want t make sumthing even if it means me paying 2k through my dad.i just wanna say ive done it long live the nova lol

£7000 is a lot of money.

for that price you could buy an already converted turbo in good condition and probably have change to insure it

Im guesing that there were coilovers, wilwoods, and custom exhaust ect... with that quote. To buy everything new and get decent stuff in the first place it can seriously start adding up very easily.

You can do it alot cheaper by buying second had stuff / ebay crap, thats how I did mine anyway.

But still I would find it difficult to do for for around 2-3k with a decent engine to start with (as one of those will eat up more than half of your budget to start with) and then buy suspension, brakes, exhaust, shafts fuel tank, pump and all the other bits.

Even if you were dumb enough to commit fraud and do it in your dad's name, with a ban and at that age you'll be paying more than £2k insurance.
