Classic pikey trick ^

You hand over cash, they hand over box's full of house bricks and fresh air.

Not nice. Ive heard of people in the same situation who refused to hand over any money till they had the goods in their van. One of them got a bar in the back of the noggin!

Find the nearest pikey camp and petrol bomb it. its the only language they understand.

to be fair, the saying.. 'if it sounds to good to be true......it probably is' is a fair assesment of whats gone on.

Guy off here did a runner with some cash I sent him for speakers. Only £25, so its not the money that annoys me, its the fact he had the balls to do it and then fed me a load of crap about being out of money til pay day so couldn't post yet etc (and me being the nice/gullable person that I am gave him the benefit of the coubt) in the first place that annoyed me more. Person was "Puss Puss" from on here btw :p Can't imagine losing £3k though, thats gonna hurt.

Then kick up a fuss. Phone the local radio station. Contact the local TV news. Write to the local paper. Harass your local MP. To be ripped off and locked in a van and have the police do nothing about it is scandalous, and just the kinda news that the media love to hear about.

[EDIT] Bear in mind this ^ may not work as the media coin may flip the wrong way and they decide to ostracise you for being all to keen to handle more-than-likely-stolen goods and generally being gullable fools.

Unfortunately, it can't. Well not unless you have access to a number of satellites, triangulation kit and half the US military. Ooh, there's an idea! Tell the police you suspect the culprits were muslim terrorists. You'll get half the UK police force on side then lol

You should however be able to find out which network he's on by the start of the phone number, perhaps ask the police to find out owner details from the operator. Thats assuming they've kept the phone - tbh, if you were going the scam someone, would you really hand out your permanent phone number, or just get a PAYG phone? Or better still, clone/steal one?

tbh it just sounds like a lesson in life for you and your greedy mates.....

ok being locked in the back of a van is harsh, but the rest is pretty much your own fault/stupidity. Which is probably the exact reason the Ploice dont care.

random phone call....cheap electrical goods......hmmm, sound too good to be true did it?

i take it you met them in some random location rather than going to their premesis?
they probably nicked the goods from somewhere, you didnt care where they came from and now theyve taken you for a brown ride too.

not likely the police will bend over backwards to solve this one.

The police aren't interested because you were probably about to buy a van full of stolen goods.

They're probably up for getting their hands on the stolen goods... but not helping out people who are exacerbating the "trade"

the thing is we deal with a company call parkinsons who specialise in electrical equipment we look after there fleet and often when they ring for a job to be done they will mention what old stock they have that will be going to auction and ask if we want any of it before it goes and this guy was possing to work for them in heinsite we should have rang the company direct instead of his mobile i surpose

and yes alot of it was our own stoopidity but everything seemed right he even knew a little about us and who to ask for when he rang the depot and it was things like that that made it seem right but now in heinsight i guess he just did his home work

we had a ring round a few other garages in the area and they had the same thing same day but it seems we was the first to meet up with the cash and after all this happened aparently he stoped anwsering the phone to every one else he had been setting up

Gutted for you and mates, that's harsh to be locked in, no matter how stupid everyone thinks you were at the time.

Doesn't sound like much could be done apart from maybe going to the press so that other people in business's like yours do not get the same thing happening to them? But then if like people think they were pikey's, I don't suppose they like to be messed with.
