Engine management light signal form ECU to an unused bulb on dash.

For the diagnostic plug get hold of one from a vauxhall of similar age to engine and wire up the pos, neg, and I think there are 2 x wires to read from the ECU. Maybe brown / white from memory is the one that gets shorted to earth when you want to read the codes, and then another wire to the ECU where the data comes. I've wired a diagnostic plug on mine that also talks to the power steering and trip computer. Basically its an extra wire to the socket for each intalligent device you want to talk to, the brown / white wire previously mentioned goes to all devices.

You need to feed the brown/blue wire to either the dedicated ECU light on the dash or a spare slot.

The diagnostic plug is just 4 wires - brown = earth / red = constant live / brown/yellow and brown/white to the wires on a separate plug on the engine loom near the ECU.

Quite easy really - as mentione get a diagnosic plug off a vauxhall in the scrapyard - most are located in the engine bay (cav's and calibra;s are I'm sure). Just get about 6 inch of loom with the plug to give you some wires to work with.

Hope this helps

You don't need a code reader to find out the fault codes form a c20xe, just earth the ecu light wire and count the flashes! go to www.topbuzz.co.uk (http://www.topbuzz.co.uk) for more info

Right, brown/blue is your EML on the dash, if you earth the brown/yellow wire it should make the EML flash HTH!
