just fitted by carbd xe into a new shell fitted a different manifold it is mild steel but also heat wrapped it is this normall to have the manifold glowing the engine doesnt get hot and drives like it did before, is the glowing of the metal due to the old one being stainless and this one being mild and with the wrap on you can touch the manifold wrap and isnt that hot but you can just see the manifold glowing,

They do tend to glow through lack of heat dissipation. My brother's kit car manifold started to glow when he wrappped that. But he did such a bad job of it that eventually the heat wrap fell off. Manifold seems ok...

Its possible that its either running lean or very retarded ignition...

I'd get it on a RR and have the fuelling and timing checked over before ranting the ass off it (anywhere, letalone a track)

I said on MIG, could be a lean mixture/setup.

my mates nova was set up on the rolling road, and his manifold used to glow just like that!
