got woke up this morning just after 5 with a phone call saying one of the nova's that were on my drive last night is now 5 mile away and on fire:mad:
the car was not mine but i have put a lot of parts and time building it the car belonged to a good mate who is now gutted it was out the garage less than 5 hours :mad: :mad: i will now be not impressed by any chavvy looking thieving scum that walk by my house was a mint nova too

Scumbags. I hope they get caught and punished duely.
Except the reality is niether of those will happen. Even if they are caught the punishment will be slight.

my mate (the owner) has lost interest and i dont think he even wants to pay the recovery if it not a total loss and with it being off the rd (project) it was also uninsured as he is only 18 and paying 3k to insure his astra sport

was just talking about how much novas get stolen last night to my mates, think its time i get somesort of cctv up at my house, would be devasted if it happened to me !

Its so annoying that idiot car thieves still target novas, youd think they would have moved on to more modern cars by now.
They might come back, so investing in a camera would be a good plan.

im hoping they do come back im even gonna leave my red top nova out for bait tonight obviously not so it can really be stolen but so if they do come back i can introduce them to some friends of mine

feel dead guilty as my mates sr was in the garage untill 9pm last night and i swapped it over with silky to do a few jobs on will be going to see the state of it later today

You'll find there were more then likely watching your house. The night mine got nicked at 3am, i was up till 1.30am.

Very sad news. I had same happen to me two weeks ago so know how you feel, I too got a knock from police at 4am.
They told me they don't go for new cars as they just can't get into em without keys, hence the reason most newer cars are linked to house break in's these days.
Pen1s who pinched mine wasn't charged as he was not caught inside vehicle but he did get done for breach of bail, another to add to his list of 30+ offences, he was 16 years old...

gonna make sure i bring my boys up to have respect for what other people have got and worked for will break all of their fingers if i ever caught them breaking into someones car home or even stealing.
its got to be the way these kids are brought imo
but mine only 2,1 and 5 months so got a long way to go yet.lol

Tragic story.
The state of society today. I dont think Novas are the 'steal' they used to be, but with most things in life, scumbags always want what they cant afford.
It used to be expensive mountainbikes nowadays its modded cars.

It just follows on from whatever form of recreation is most popular IMO.
The scrotes that steal generally wish they had a nice modded car, cant afford one so take it upon them selves to liberate whatever they think they can take from someone else.
My guess is they had no intention of torching that Nova until the reality set in, that they'd stolen it, it was a bag of shyte & the dawned on them it wasnt worth the trouble they could potentially be in... Brick it - matches.

just dont see why they went for that one my silky gsi rep has been parked in the same spot the sr was stolen for about 10 days worst thing about it is iv only lived in this house about two weeks if i had been here a while i would have had more security outside, with being here for so little time even the house doesnt feel safe
Hmm, not a good house warming gift from the locals.
Maybe go oldschool and get a big steering lock thingy on the remaining Nova? That and security lights.
CCTV is a bit extreme perhaps, for the time and cost of installing it. I think there are similarly effective ways of prevention without spending too much time or effort.

Steering locks can be snapped easily.
Best option is CCTV.
Or an alarm with a sensor that says ''GET BACK YA CHAV! I'LL BREAK YA LEGS!''
I mean the bar things. That you slide on to the wheel, adjust to the right size then lock in place. The only way you could drive it then would be smashing the windscreen out. Or just driving in circles :S
It might put the small time pikeys off anyway, who are no doubt responsible for things like this.

Yeah they are the ones i'm on about.
Real Theifs can get them off easy.
For security my mate said a friend of his years ago had a crossbow mounted in the boot of the car.As soon as someone broke into the car and sat on the drivers seat a pressure pad went down and would release the crossbow bolt straight though the back of the seat.:eek: :)
Take the wheels off your other car mate if poss, that would make driving a bit more difficult!. They more than likely were gonna steel your silky nova, but as you swapped the cars round they probably thought hey we'll just have this 1 instead. Feel sorry for you mate and lets just hope YOU catch the little b4stards, not the police who'll just tell them not to do it again!

I had a disc lock on my old SR, was no match for a blowtorch though :(
Disc locks and flimsy nova steering wheels (ie 1.2's) are a waste of time, if you pull hard enough they will bend the wheel and come off:eek: A pal found this out when he went to his car 1 morning and all that was left was a locked disc lock on the kerb and no nova:mad:

Ive got mates that live there, they say its a pretty quiet area.
Spose it depends who you know though and what you class as quiet.

i no how u feel mate me girlfriends nova was stolen last year the first we herd about it was when mersey side police rang (and were from uttoxeter) and said it had been in 2 arm assisted robberys and had been driven into the side of a asda(somewhere in liverpool) after bein in a police chase i wouldnt mind but it was only a 1liter star and id just brought a gte engine that day to drop into it

we just put a smooth boot with spoiler, bumper, full blue/grey interior and suspention, and put on my gsi 3 spoke alloys cause he had no wheels to put on his car, 100% gutted both of us,
I was considering a disklok - so they're really not worth the money? I guess it will slow em up a bit, but in the dead of night time is no issue.
What about a snap off wheel surely that must rank up there as one of the best?

not much that is worth saving tbh there are a few bit but none of us really wanted to stay around it we had wheels 32/34 webber, brace off it and left it to be scrapped

Gutted mate sorry , a think if someone nicked my car i would have to brush there teeth with a angle grinder , either that or a sledgehammer !! Good job mine is in the birds garage , but saying that the garage int rite clever either , but its in a crime free area ( i would like to think ) . Leaste you can keep ya boot and spoiler :) , back lights , wheels and bumper .. ( spares for next project nova :thumb: )

he literally lives, well i can see his front door from my window and apparently he has a big familly ect and they all stick together so i will wait and see if the old bill do anything if not well im not just gonna let him get away with it so he will get his just deserves
