What model Saabs had this engine? It shares the sub frame with an Astra and Mk3 Cavalier. It'd be something different in a Nova.

The engine - I think - that bolts to a Vaux FWD 'box is from a post-94 saab. I thought about this, but when I looked into it on Saab forums, the general feedback I got was not to bother, and go for the Saab 2.0 16v Turbo instead.

It has a low rev limit, somewhere just after 6000, and is as weak as a kitten after that. The 2.0 jobbie however, is regarded as a lot stronger, and capable of more power once tuned.

PPC rant on about the 2.3 Turbo as it fits the 'Stick a V8 in it' mentality better.

Remember though, this is just Info I got from people on forums, and we all know how dodgy that can be lol

the saab 9-5 1.8 and 2.0T engines are essentially turbocharged Z22SE's but they arent "that" much more powerful

You can get a V6 turbo Saab (9000 I think) but it's a low-blow model with a fair bit less power than a 3.0 Omega.

People ask us all the time about a Saab turbo transplant in a Vauxhall. As mentioned above, there must be reasons why nobody has done it, even after all this time.

Most of the SAAB engines are low blow or LPT as the call them, there are some HOT versions 'high output turbo'. The older engines were based on old Triumph engines IIRC.

Saab are more hassle than they are worth, the engines really arent all that and the new ones are pretty much vauxhalls with the higher price tag
