I have been offered a 1600i gte lump cheap,it comes with ecu, fuel pump, loom and manifold,I think it would go straight into my SR with these parts, but I dont know if it will mate to my gearbox nicely,or if the driveshafts are different,or the zorst system, can you people help? and how much would a CR gte gearbox and zorst system cost? standard cheap replacement system for now is all Im interested in.is it an easy conversion?
The engine etc has been offered to me for ?50 and my gte seats,it has been rebuilt a year ago-thanks in advance!

ya its a simple transplant bob. yer gearbox would bold on no hassle because its the same size block as the gte but if ya can do get the F13cr box caus it makes a big difference. drive shafts are the same too. no point in me mentionin prices to ya caus stuff is dearer here in Ireland!
cheap engine!

The SR box don't fit on that easy. The bell housing is bigger on the f13 coz of the flywheel size. It can be done, but will be loads of hassle. You can probably get a sound GTE box for under ?50.

If you use the smaller 1.4 flywheel, the SR box will bolt on, then you need to machine the engine block so that the starter motor can be moved in to mate with the flywheel.

Thats what I was trying to show. All that work, or ?30 from the scrappy. I know what I'd choose.

no. the F13cr came on the GTE and GSi. the F15 came on Corsa GSi's (im sure it came on other engines too?)

Oh, and its a myth that the f13 is stronger. Not true, only difference is the bell housing size.

ask the guy your buying it off if he has the box.worth a shot.
also just want to point this out make sure the enigne aint nicked.coz if ya get found out,u get left with one rolling chassis

then engine aint nicked,it came out a gte and has alot of history,he converted the car to a 2.0 8v but kept the gearbox grrrrrr. Is the gte box the same as on a nova SRI??? I have a mate with a SRi lump n box, reconned, that he cannot be bothered to drop in his sri. At the moment my 1400 is running an f10 gearbox, that is out of a 1.0 I think? if so does that mean my car has better ratios than an 1400SR box? I NEED AN F13CR!

i cant see that any1 else said this so....

you also need the gte fuel tank as it has a swirlpot, and rear exit as opposed to the carb models front exit system which will not work with a fuel pump.

dont even bother modding an f10 box. get any f13/f15 box, the cr boxes are good but if u do much motorway driving i would advice aginst this.

You can use ur sr exhuast as long as u use the whole thing, manifold donw to backbox, and it will fit on the gte exhaust but is not compatible with gte exhuats parts. its a pretty simple conversion expect it to take a full day if u have no problems, or a bit longer :)

feel free to mail me if u get stuck

so there is no performance difference between the F13 and the F15 :?:

all depends how much power and wot speeds you want better acceleration at.

both are good boxes and very similar to each other!

:| so does this mean that any f13 box will go onto my gte lump with no hassle?-would the performance differences between the engine n box be much different to that of a gte or gsi? would an f15 be any better?

Dicko

yes any f13 will fit.

the f15cr from a corsa sri may be worth looking at for faster acceleration. but the f15wr off the corsa gsi has longer gears than most f13's, giving slower acceleration on the nova gte engine!

ok then,so looking at it,I can have an F13,cos these are well easy to get hold of,in astras and the like,or an F15 out of an astra or cav,or a corsa sri box? also, does anyone know if the radiator and coolant set up are the same on the gte as on my 1400 lump?-do I REALLY need a new fuel tank?-I got a fuel pump
