I've gone to fit a 1400 C14SE engine in my nova rally car, which is fitted with an F10 box.. On the new engine the starter motor doesnt seem to fit properly  Is there different types of 1400 C14SE blocks. Any info will be appreicated Cheers Matty

C14SE has a larger flywheel the same as the 1.6's and I dont think the F10 fits over it.
I assume you have fitted a smaller flywheel and the ring gear does not reach the starter.
Fit a bigger flywheel and an F13 or F15

Cheers for the replies. but theres still a problem.. The engine that was fitted had the small fly wheel and the starter reached fine.. the previous owner used it like that.. The engine blew up.. so ive fitted the fly wheel to another C14SE engine and the starter motor doesnt reach the fly wheel

id still do what NOVASPORT is sayin.as your box wouldnt last long anyway, especialy with what you said the car is.

How will it blow up its exactly the same internals! I'd stick with the smaller flywheel as it should rev quicker than a larger one. Sounds like you need to fit the starter from the engine that had the small flywheel.

I have fitted the starter from the engine with the small flywheel, but where the startmotor fits it looks like the block is different. Is there just one type C14SE block?

whats going to blow up and what has the same internals??

the f10 is intended for use upto a max of 100lbs/ft of torque.

i think anybody here would play it safe and use an f13/f15 box.

Sorry, read too quickly. The gearbox cluster and diff are exactly the same in a f10 and f13. The difference is the size of the bell housing to take a larger flywheel.

As Gary said, the box strengths are identical lol
The box torque figures are pretty irrelevant tbh, not
worth taking notice of.
If you've swapped the fly, try a starter off a c14se

The F10 gearbox is specific to some 1400, SR? blocks, the starter position is different as is the area above the starter housing on the block.
The F10 won't fit your new engine, F13 it has to be.

my sri had the f10 fitted with the small flywheel. only difference in the boxes as stated is the bellhousing. fit stronger bearings in any of the boxes and they'll be fine in a rally car

1200/1300s had f10s too
