Im currently doing an XE conversion.

My engine has an oil cooler, Im under the impression it is more hassles then its worth, so remove it?

I have removed the filter and the sandwich plate, do I fit the threaded spindle from my old 8v engine?

Here is some pics:

Assuming your 8v has no oil cooler? According to EPC, the spindle that connects the filter is the same for both 16v and 8v engines (same part number) without oil coolers, so looks like your 8v spindle should be fine.

is it possible to remove the spindle from the 8 valve ?
from what i can see theres no allen socket, unless its deep inside the spindle where i cant see.
ill have to rummage thru my tools to see if ive got a long allen key thatll fit to slide down inside the spindle and check.
