Use the Cav/Calibra calipers if you can RJ. They have a smaller slave cylinder & should feel better at the brake pedal than the Vectra V6 calipers, which have a bigger slave cylinder.

Excellent :D They're calibra jobbies, so thats a bonus.

Dod, the 288mm vauxhall discs are 5 stud. You can either get these redrilled to 4 stud, or use a hub adapter, OR you can use 284mm Fiat Coupe Turbo discs which are 4 stud (PCD is 98mm but if you open up the holes by about 1mm each they'll fit).

The fiat discs are slightly thinner too iirc.
Ive heard about people having to space them out with washers.

Right, I broke a Supet Touring Veccie and held onto the front struts for just such an ocation. Have you fitted these up yet Jack?

Ad, Would washers do the trick effectively?

I dont see why not.
There was a thread about it somewhere on Mig

Question 2, is it the Fiat Coupe 16vT discs I need?

OMP list them as 284mm x 22mm, height 44mm, offset 39.5.

I did a search and someone mentioned the 20vT discs, but OMP say those are 305mm x 28mm, offset 45...?

20v T ones are the boyos.... I am sure mine were 290mm?

Either way they will bolt stright on... you MAY need to elongate one hole by 1mm!

I didnt need spacers etc either

Yes, 284x22

Hence my spacing out reply....
As vaux discs are 24mm iirc.

H'okayyy, thats the calipers and discs sorted :D

Calipers are from a 1996 Calibra V6, and just ordered some discs from a Fiat Coupe Turbo, 284 x 22 x 39.3mm.

Now I need to figure out what pads I need - I've had a nose round on the OMP fitting list, which says 1992-1995 Calibras use the same pads (so I would assume the same calipers?) as the Astras, Cavs etc that have the 256mm ATE brakes; the 1996-1998 Calibras have a different pads.

Is that right? I thought all V6's used the 288mm brake setup..? Or did earlier ones have different calipers and 288mm discs, but with the same pads as the 256mm setups?

...does this make any sense? lol

WHAT
lol

V6 are 288mm and use different pads than 256.

Jack

lol yep, thats what I thought...

Ok, to make it a little clearer:

OMP say 92-95 V6 = same pads as ATE 256mm
96-98 V6 = different pads to ATE 256mm

Methinks OMP are wrong...

[edit] Aside from being confusing, are OMP road/sport pads any good?

256 and Turbo/V6 pads have different part numbers on EPC

Both those are the 305mm discs :wtf:

In fact, they don't list the 284mm disc at all lol
