power rating are a DEEP subject!
Like for exmaple i have a 2*50W rms rated amp from kicker, and its actaully pushing out over 4K peak, where as one of those cheap and cheerful 600W mosfet amps would be lucky to make 200w peak without distorting.
Price is a far better guide than the power rating to be honest, as the ratigns vary so much, they can be at 12v or 14v, into 1 ohm or 4, bridged or not, just WAY too much variety to make an accurate comparison.
Its like comparing the bhp of a valver motor at tickover with a 1.3 sr at 4k revs and pronouncing the sr more powerful!
