Dont think you can tint your fron windows over a certain percentage, not sure which. Think you can tint the rears what you like. No them plates don't look legal to me with a background, my mate got ?30 for a background so i would say illegal

regarding tints.

Anything forward of the B-pillar must comply with legislations. IIRC that means 75% light transmission. (not very dark)

Cars used before 01/04/85:
Windscreen: 30% tint
Front Sides: 30% tint
Rear Sides & Back: No limit

Cars used on or after 01/04/85:
Windscreen: 25% tint
Front Sides: 30% tint
Rear Sides & Back: No limit

Bear in mind, even plain glass restricts light to a certain degree, so fitting a 30% tint to your side windows will probably put them over the limit.

as above m8, the standard windows are already slightly tinted and a few of my m8s have been fined for it, given rectifiers and one even made to take the tints off at the roadside!! just stick those tinted quarters in u got off me, tint the rear window and leave the fronts alone. got the front end off mine now and on fitting 5mm chassis strengthening plates :-p
