After recently selling my last project, a Nova Redtop on twin 45?s I fancied something different, so the new project is a Nova GTE V6 2.5

Engine bay has been strengthened and seam welded.
Bespoke engine mount made.
Bilstein suspension all round.
Rear disc conversion.
Astra GTE 16v front brakes.

I?ll update and add pictures as soon as.
Cheers all.

the gearbox, an F20, is now fitted.
the engine is from a cavalier.
the brakes will have to do for now as i want to run 15" wheels which means i cant run too big a braking system.

you can run V6 brakes 288mm on 15" alloys :)

Vec gsi V6 288mm discs and calipers fit under 15's!

Great minds think alike or something like that!

You can still run the V6 brakes under 15s. And if i was you i would try looking into fitting the V6 box to. Just because my mate has a V6 corsa with the F20 box and the gearing just aint right to close a ratio and cant make use of its torque. My old V6 cavy was faster in a strait line than the corsa due to the box anyway just a little to think about :D

You don't need to you can get 4stud disks from companies such as LMF

One thing I'd worry about with a v6 GTE, would be the fuel tank.
'Tis a rather small tank, and 'tis a rather thirsty engine..heavy footed and you'd best know where your petrol stations are.;)
My old Vec Gsi averaged 24mpg around town, 34 on motorway, but that 24 soon dropped to around 18 when the pedal went down.
I'd love one myself, but have been told the handling can be terrifying.

Will be watching this,good luck:thumb:

cheap option is to use fiat coupe discs, there 4 stud anyway and work well with v6 calipers

/\ good shout, don't think they are the full 288mm though think they are 284 but would work ok?!

These are my V6 brakes under my 15's on my corsa van snug but they fit and they are 4stud...

Didn?t want to use the F25 box as I just wanted the accelaration and without checking im not sure if the gearbox mounts were the same, an F20 drops straight in.

it?s a fun car so fuel distance wont be an issue.

blue peg 16v
I?ll look into that fiat idea thanks.

Why not go to a scappy for the brakes? Most mk1 Vectra's use 288m and you can re-drill them to 4 stud quite easy...

Here's a template to use..

And my V6 brakes unders 15" Pentalines..

Mazz thanks for that, I might just have a go at that as I have some of them disks knocking around.

Along with fitting a flat flywheel, gearbox modification today was to swap the end cover plate that covers the input shaft with a cover that has a large allen bolt in it, this is so you can remove the input shaft and swap the clutch without taking the gearbox off.

its been a while since ive touched the nova, and the next problem i have encountered is the rear manifold is touching the steering rack. im on a budget so cannot afford to get a bespoke one made up, any ideas anyone? the standard one is cast so im limited on modifying it.

you can still weld castings. you just need to heat it in the BBQ for a while first. then TIG it with a suitable rod.

rear manifold is'nt cast, its mild steel and you can use a mig on it mate....:) just remember you'll need to modify you downpipe as well..... i forgot! I think the omega one will foul your gear linkage. how did you do your o/s engine mount?

is this a different V6 project to the other one? and if so, what happened to that in the end? I saw it on ebay...

I just presumed it was cast with a stainless outer skin, if you say its mild steel then I can sort it with no probs.

Part of the inner wing was cut out, boxed and strengthened with a bespoke engine mount made.
