View Full Version : this country
is fcuking sh1t:mad::mad::mad::mad:
just had my probation report and part of that is asking about alcohol consumption. now i very rarely go out and when i do i dont go mad probably having 8-9 pints but that is probably once a year. according to the probation officer tho, if you go out once a year and have 8 pints in that night your classed as a binge drinker and that will go against you in court:mad::mad:
seriously what the ****
not happy

This country does suck, I dont drink at all though which is always better. Also have I missed something why have you got a probation officer?
To be honest I would always be biased against people that drink large amounts of alcohol in one go or take drugs regardless but thats because I cant stand drunk people that are off their face lol

Err yeah Burgo, what you on probation for??
no im not on probation, but i have had to have a probation report done for my court appearence on the 2nd
thats very rubbish tbh, as when you average it out its fark all per year compared to someone who drinks 1-2 pints a night as per the "government big thumbs up norm" lol
hell I technically binge at beer festivals etc when I have a good 6-8-10 pints but its two or three times a year ffs
thats the other thing she said its fine to drink 2-3 pints a night. yet 8 in one night just once a year and your a binge drinker lol ridiculous
then get creative... or will she tell tales on you?
or will the judge be a human being and see that 1/365 (366) with 4 times the recommended intake really isnt as bad as a 365/365 * 2pints.

but burgo, that IS the definition of 'binge' drinking. long periods of no drink, then lots in one go. you must learn to control your urges and drink a little and often.
the effects on the human body is far more sever if you have none for a long time and then take a lot at once. it means that you body has to deal with a large volume of something that it is not used to. this can have bad effects on the person and make them ill, scary or violent, or even shout swear words across at old ladies!!! this is why binge drinking is bad. it is making people of UK feel unsafe.
^ Took the words right out of my mouth. (or, right off my keyboard lol)
Thats exactly what binge drinking is - having nothing but the ~8 pints at the weekend - and its worse for you than having 1 pint a night. Think about what happens when you use a funnel to put oil into your car - do it slowly and consistantly and the oil goes in fine. Upturn the cannister and dump 5 litres all in one go and the oil ends up all over your engine. Ok, naff analogy, but its kinda the same theory, except the funnel is your liver/stomach, and your engine is the pavement. lol
Government is taking a lot of flak for the effects of binge drinking and youth culture at the moment, so they're quite hot on it.

What is lots of drink for one isnt much for another (Draper?).
Its just plain daft tbh. I've come to expect nothing less of our government. Chances are the judge of your case drinks about 5 pints of ale every night with a whisky chaser!
That is more than likley true, but thats still not binge drinking! 5 pints of ale every night isn't - 10 pints of ale each saturday is.
Damper drinks a lot, yes, but he's regular. Say he drinks 10 pints each night. His body can handle it because it gets used to it. If he tried to drink 70 pints on a satuday night even he would end up in hospital with alcohol poisoning.
See, I don't see the point in drinking x amount of units per night, because sometimes I don't fancy drinking. I usually drink the amount of units I've missed out on in one night. So therefore, instead of being someone who drinks every day, I'm a binge drinker?!
But garenteed if I drank every day someone would accuse me of being an alcoholic?! Wtf:(

Just tell them you take ecstacy.
in fact i had a better idea, just ancser burgo !!!!
ok merit fair point on the deffintion but whenever you see reports about binge drinking, they always use people who go out every weekend and get proper ****ered. so therefore if they label me with the title of a binge drinker that is the images it is gonna bring up. which is so far from the truth..
as for alcohol and its amount affecting people in a different way apparently it makes no difference to the breathaliser reading. but then also she couldnt explain or understand how i blew 46 on 8-9 pints
in fact i had a better idea, just ancser burgo !!!!
do what??

we call that dinner round my way !!!
you cant compare me to scientific study becuase i drink 20x the national average, and im perfectly healthy - im just one of a kind

i just realised i love you
Well this is the thing, more scentences/penalties should be judged on discretion.. but then it opens it all up to bias.
For example, At uni... i regularly go out sometimes 4/5/6 times a week... drink unhealthy amounts, but i can honestly say i've never driven whilst under the influence of alcohol. I wouldn't say i'm a binge drinker, as it's totally under control and i don't end up spewing my guts up or in hospital.... But if i was in your position it sounds like i'd be screwed (Unfairly, and not in a good way ).
But it's the same for everything... from shoplifting to murder, it'd be alot better if everything wasn't Classified, and there was someone making a fair decision. Just saw on the news before that some Parking fines in inner cities are fined more heavily than shoplifting WTF !
Hope it all goes as fair as possible !

so your in your opinoin if the world doesnt spew up or spend the night in hospital there fine ??
how about the fact my binge drinking is under control and i can probably drive a car round donny quicker than you !!!!!

No. I was saying that if i was in this position, i'd be frowned upon. Yet i regularly drink, but i still manage to maintain my dignity and am allways aware about when i can and can't drive. Not very fair eh ? Just like Burgo's situation doesn't seem fair.

What on earth does that have to do with anything ? I couldn't care less if you could drive round donnington quicker... i do trackdays for personal enjoyment not bragging rights lol
to be fair nick i did the crime hence why i have no problem with the punishment coming to me. the problem i have is that they are trying to tar me with the same brush as waster scum who make a habbit of drink driving and causing damage.
i just hope that in the probation report she can get across that i am a genuine bloke who made one mistake.

Yer it sucks, "classification" is one of the things i hate the most.. regarding everything !
Well i hope it all goes as well as possible :thumb:
it was on radio 5 yesterday that the government now reckons anyone that has 5 drinks or more is a binge drinker..... by their standard unit of alcohol measurements, that means I drink 5 units per night at most, ie 2 cans at home, thus I am actually a binge drinker...........
they should be asking why people drink, not how much.......
the question to you is to try to ascertain if you are an alcoholic, or it was just a one off, as this will affect the outcome.... just make sure the prosecution evidence is disclosed & you can check if they made a procedural error, & if so, it can get chucked out......
lol 5 units.... thats fcuk all. A decent pint can be that much. Id hate to think how many units I drank at the beer festival last week lol But I did spread it over 8 hours so its all good :D
Burgo, I'd ignore the tick boxes to condem yourself on the form bit and Write down that you dont drink much/at all through the year but the one(few) occasions you do, you like to let those long locks of hair down and get well lubed. Maybe word it better lol. That way they can see that what you did was a one off and you arent a pisshead car theif 24/7.
im prob the same i drink maybe twice a year , @ pv and then on work xmas do's , but then i make up for it , but still have never been wasted though
my biological dad is an alky though so it kind of put me off

lol do you not see? now that they have taxed fuel and cigarettes to death they have to invent ways of changing statistics so that they can imply that alcohol is a bigger problem than it really is. this gives them leverage to tax the last thing left to tax...boozes..
I'm going to have some Boozes later on :)

I wouldnt be so sure, he mustn't of been far off that at P.V! lol
Another thing i don't understand is why it's cool to beable to drink more alcohol than anyone else.
At the end of the day, it just costs you more and theres no possible way it can't make you even more unhealthy. I'm glad i can't drink 15 pints every night, i'd probably look like **** and have no money !
The real problem with alcohol is A - Alcoholics. And B - People that literally drink way too much (in relation to their personal tolerance) on a regular occasion and end up wasting police/NHS time. Alcoholism is sort of acceptable as an addiction, but people under the category B should get some decency and grow up.
