GTE/GSi Engine Differances

tried serach but nothing really usefull come up whats easiest way to tell the differance between the 2 engines as ive been offered a 1.6 nova engine but seller aint sure whther its a gte or gsi engine as it came in the back of the car :D

ask for the engine code: gsi is c16se, gte - e16se

iirc the gte is a dispak and the gsi is a dizzy1 someone will correct me if im wrong

Both GSI's and GTE's had the same engine.

Only the very late GSI's had a different one.

they both run same management then ? this one has dizzy if that helps

There's different types of management (Bosch and Siemens I think?).

If it has a dizzy its a e16se.

so if its an e16se is that gte or gsi
