Depends how much ??? your paying for fuel really, say its ?1.12 per litre ... i know ?20 will get me about 160 - 170 miles in my LET and thats driving it quite hard as well, unless your leaving your car to idle for an hour before you drive that 100 miles, i cant see the idle problem causing it.
Do you drive like a tw*t ??

If thats what it works out at then yeah, at the weekend i stuck ?10 in from the petrol light being on, done about 75 - 80 miles then petrol light was back on, that was driving thru the Lakes, tight twisty roads, on - off the throttle a lot, plus a good few starights ... i wasn't hanging about !! lol

Really?? That does seem a bit optimistic to me! That, or you are about to melt 4 pistons due to severe lean-ness! lol

I could get about 30-35 in my Nova and that wasa combined figure (approx) which I thought was very good!

Now, I am getting about 26-28 in teh combo/corsa so I am assuming thats due to the lardiness and me driving them too hard!

Well as optamistic it may sound to you, thats what it did, simple as, i've no reason to make up.
The car runs fine by the way !

Thats what I get although it does get driven hard everywhere. Was pleased with that after having the GT4, that was awful on petrol.

lol how could i go about seeing if its fueling right?

take it to a decent independant vauxhall specialist & get it hooked up on the diagnostic machine

Why? :wtf:

Hmm, GT4 gets 25mpg on a good day, so I'm hoping the nova gets more than that otherwise its for sale lol

i've got the nova xe in coventry with me :) thought i'd bring it up for the 3days i'm here this week lol

i was really good on the way up! did 60-65 tops and got 80miles for ?10 and still got a bar left on the digi dash. thats was smooth acceleration but i did put a smile on ym face at a couple of junctions to see off some chavs.

i'm well chuffed with it! i was driving it pretty hard originally and it was returning 55-60 for ?10 ( 107p/l)

and, just to add... thats after its been set up on the rollers running 13:1 afr

My Astra GSi does about 31mpg

theres 4 and a half litres in a gallon, so if your paying ?1.00 a litre thats ?4.50 x 4 = ?18 do your miles and divide by 4 to avarage it out a bit and there you go...my 1.4 sr was about 45 iirc and thats normal town driving.

Easiest way to figure out MPG is:

1. Fill car up. Right up. Full. Note mileage.

2. Drive.

3. Refill car, again right up to the top. Note how much fuel you put in and your current mileage.

4. Take the miles driven and divide by the number of litres. Multiply that by 4.546 to get MPG.

My Sport does 27mpg on a steady run, super unleaded:cry: not bad for a 1.3 (and yes it is in tune before you asklol )

Sound like the xe's and let's are better at fuel economy then the 1600 gsi/gte engines. The figure im seeing here are like something you'd get out of a diesel. (I was gettign half then in my standard gte with similar fuel prices)

Is it cause of the power to weight ratios? as the vauxhall 20 litres were designed to pull cavalier, calibra and astras, and you guys are using them in nova hence, the engines having an easier work out?

Nobby

so why is mine drinking fuel if its in a lower weight shell?

My 2.0 seh will do about 30 mpg/ 60 to ?10, to me thats quite good as my old 1.6 gte use to do about the same and they both always get driven hard.

my calibra and cav gsi both used 2 average about 35 on the motorway but around town can go down to about 20, and if u boot it it goes down to 5-7!
