having trouble with handbrake cable!

i have fitted a second hand handbrake cable to my nova tonight and its all on but it takes 9 or 10 clicks for it to lock the wheels..

how do i adjust it so its about 4 or 5 clicks?

Try adjusting the shoes through the rear drum backplates. Knock the little star wheel around to move the pads closer to drum.

have lost my haynes..getting another through the week.

i have tried turning the star wheel and its not helping..

where else can i adjust it?

you wind the nut up where the 2 cables join, after you have adjusted the drums
