Ok I have 3 gauges taht I got for free from my uncle, and want to know how/where to wire them.

First one is this:

(I'm not even sure what this one is myself?)

Second gauge:

(Thats the Vacuum performance gauge, I know nobody uses these anymore but I might try it anyway!)

Last one:

So yea I am looking for info on where and how to wire these gauges, I might mount them in the radio slot, not sure yet.

Thanks!

Seriously, there is nothing practical that those old gauges can do in your car.

you could wire them up with variable resistors to the fag lighter feed so they read something

Thanks for the help, but

I have asked HOW, not IF:thumb:

first one looks like a volts gauge for a 6V system... Or possibly a fuel gauge.
either way of no use in a Nova.

2nd is a manifold pressure gauge, its essentially a gauge linked to your throttle pedal lol. does it have a hose connection?

last one looks like an Amps gauge, meaning you need to wire it in series with what ever you want to monitor the current draw for.... dont even think about putting it on the starter motor lol

Thanks Stuart... Yea the Vaccum one has a hose connection?!

I just thought I'd ask, as I got these for free etc.

also note that if you do plumb in the vaccum line to that gauge, the coloured "economy" zones wont match the same zones of your engine.

The vac one will need a hose connecting to the inlet manifold.

Cheers for the replies! I am just curious, I don't know if I will fit any of the gauges.

Adam - so would that mean drilling a hole in the inlet manifold or what then? :wtf:

It needs connecting to the inlet, so you could either join it onto another vac line already fitted(dizzy vac/brake servo) or drill/tap a hole and fit a connector for a vacuum hose.
What engine do you have?

Its the 1.0 ohv. Not for practical purposes obviously, just thought I'd try it out?

I thought the bit where I put:

'you could wire them up with variable resistors to the fag lighter feed so they read something'

mentioned how....

you see, they are off an aftermarket kit for an old chevette or something....for god's sake do not put the ammeter on because it will most likely burn out your charging circuit. They died out with dynamos, ie the early seventies........

The vacuum gauge will simply fluctuate about & guess what it will tell you? when it is low, it means you are running at a constantly high throttle opening, ie cruising along. when it is high, you are either at tickover, or have just took your foot off the gas, thus it tells you what you have just done....

And finally the mystery gauge..... anyone's guess......

you might as well get a gauge for altitude above sea level......

Please just face it, they really are useless on your car, sell them to a classic car bloke
