PNG RR day @ Jamsport-22/03/2008 Pics/Vids/Chat Thread

Well, first of all, a thanks to Lee for organising the day. All went pretty smoothly even if it was pretty much the coldest day ever lol

I set off at about 6.45am this morning, met Iainel at 7.30am, and then Baxter at 8am.
Then headed off down the M1, on the way just happening to meet two other nova's :cool:

I headed off down to Milton Keynes to pick up my new exhaust system/manifold, and then got to Jamsport at about 9.15am. 2/3 cars had already ran by that time.

I was well pleased with my result, 127bhp @6690rpm, 111 lb/ft torque :cool:(was 118bhp last time it was ran without the Powerbox fitted)
More than i was expecting, hopefully get a bit more with the new 2.25" system and manifold fitted.

Had a few problems on the way back home when Iainel had to pull over on the M1 hardshoulder due to battery/alternator issues. Turns out the tensioner lever bolt had snapped clean off in the side inlet. So he risked driving home with the belt slack.
Hope you got home ok mate :thumb:



All in all, a good day out, cheers to Lee,TV for the pics etc, and the Jamsport boys.
Oh and finally we got a lesson in how to NOT put a Escort RST onto a trailor :cool: lol

Was a top day, despite the weather. I was skiing a few weeks ago, and it was nothing like that!!!!!

To my rekoning there were 5 guys (who didn't mention they wern't coming) who didnt make it. I hope you all didn't make wasted trips. I had no idea they were going to rack through the cars so fast. It got to a point where myself and the guy from TV had to make a judgement call on wether to hang around or to knock it on the head. We would have been hanging around a LONG time if we hung on.

On a side note, I will be refunding the deposits of EVERYONE who didnt make it, be it from mechanical problems or missing the boat. We're not in this to make money (despite the quips i made today lol) and i dont intend on making any from others misfortune.

Other than that, thanks to everyone who appeared. Was great to meet some new faces, and to see some old ones, and also VERY good not to have to sweep my car away from an event again lol

TBH i can vouch for my missing horsepower due to my fpr being set completely wrong (hense the pinking on the initial run lol). I was also running fuel that has been sat in the tank since september, as I ran out of time to drain the tank out.

I would imagine your missing power was due to wheelspin mate, they were struggling to get some of the baby valvers to get grip!

Mental? Scary more like lol. Luckily she only did it on the first run up, then spat a shed load of crap out the back, and seemed to be ok on the second run lol. It needed better fuel, more of it, and to be a bit warmer tbh, but that can all be ironed out easily!

Your run was by far the best of the day anyway IMO lol. Farping awesome!

Yup, off the printout pal. You probably saw 160. 180 ATW would make about 210 ish at the fly at a very rough guess.

today it ran out at 120bhp @ 5796rpm & 117lbft @2960rpm with just the Mantzel fitted.

I was well impressed with the Skoda's results - 164bhp and 258lb/ft with a remap is good! Got a new air intake to go on which should maybe squeeze a few extra bhp out of her too. Previous owner claimed it was 180bhp when I bought it, but I knew that was a little optimistic so good to know where its at. Not bad considering I can still get 50mpg at the same time lol

Looks like we missed a good day, sadly the car is in bits currently so I didn't even consider coming down but it would of been good to finally meet a few people.

Regarding the Turbo Nova results, what it made at Jamsport is what its running, the figures from Olly Hewiits nova were within 1hp of Track and Roads setup and they have the most accurate set of rollers in this country IMO. Fair play to Jamie and the team for getting the calibration so precise as there is a LOT to be said about rolling road figures.

Some nice looking cars there though, not so keen on that multi coloured blue track slag though, what a skip lol ;)

Not there you don't Spanish, braked roller setup which IMO is the worst type to be putting nitrous vehicles on. If you value your engine I wouldn't advise it lol

yes count yours went completely clear on boost which does indicate not enough fuel. we should of tweaked it there

and simps yes thats my loon. as for the suspension, its a modified spax rsx kit with "custom" rear springs. i can down another 20mm all round but then i run out of adjustment :(

it is a standard N/A derv inlet adam. which imo is a much better design. the only thing you have to do is add a vacuum/boost take off for the diesel pump

Ad as burgo said its the standard N/A manifold adapted to take the boost pipe off of it allows you to fun a front mounted cooler horizontally in a nice simple loop ie turbo cooler inlet manifold instead of vertically as in the cav td!

I had exactly the same problem with Ads car using the Griffin linkage, it turned out to be the centre bush on the linkage, even when I had a new one spun up it still gets VERY close to the rack :thumb:
