woke up this morning with a plan. get new track rod ends and then have the tracking set. simple apparently....

so i went and bought the track rod ends and headed off to see my mate. he was busy doing a bently at the time so i went and got the car cleaned. headed back and went in for him to do it. so he jacked it up and whipped the wheels off which is when we discovered my tyres were down to the metal on the inside :eek:. so he sorted me out a new pair of front tyres and then got on with the wheel alignment. he hooked up the machine and we discovered the toe to be -2.13 and -2.19 degress out .....not good. anywho its all sorted now and cost me a quick ?140 but ill be there tomoz:thumb:

Could have been worse, the coppers might have pulled you over and given you (what is it, 3 points per tyre)!

poor maintenance causes accidents!! you must learn to inspect your tyres more often. i would have thought a man of your stature would have felt there was a problem with the tracking long before it got to such a scary condition!!! you must be safe in your Nova!!!

no i havent got a page like you. my useage of film camera means i have to use scanning tool to present pictures to you. this takes me great time and findings of such a device.
please be patient.

A Local place to me tried to charge me ?140 when they used some 4-wheel lazer crap to do my tracking.

I promptly told them to **** off as they were ammending the tracking they'd apparently fixed a week before !

I use my eyeball to track my nova's. Last time i had it checked i was half a degree out from what I was aiming for lol

thats pretty impressive lee. how do you manage? i use mole-grips and spanners. i would struggle to loosten track rod arms with my eyeball.

i set up my camber by eye. it was only .1 ofa degree out but it was .1 more negative so all good :thumb:

.1 is nothing. Thats good skills! Especially with camber as nova arches are consistently inconsistent lol

yes thats very good, but i can do it with my eyes closed.

.1 is nothing. Thats good skills! Especially with camber as nova arches are consistently inconsistent loli like how i made my camber adjustable. i got a big fcuk off drill bit and enlarged the top hole

doing it with a big drill is stupid as you will loose track of the castor. using a round file and slotting the hole is a much better way to do it. so i think my way is better ;)

merit....serioously shut up.... i quite clearly obviously didnt as my wheel alignment is spot on. has been on this car, the one before and the one before that.

lol @ meritlover!

Haynes is pretty good for camber alignment - especially if like me youve removed your steering rack and changed the ends!
