LMFAO arent we all.

No being serious with painting your car yourself, of course you can do it if you are confident enough, but if you were you wouldnt be asking in here...

Bodyshops spray cars with experience abd its this you pay for, as the paint costs a fration of the overall cost 10%? normally.

At the end of the day with apraying you get what you pay for... as good painters are fully booked so can charge whta they like to a point and anyone who will do it cheaply hasnt got a lot on so cant be that good.

A tip to drop the price is offer the sprayer cash rather than going through the books!

yes you can respray your car yourself but like Lurk says you need some knowledge to do it right.

I've just finished the last coat on my nova in 2 pak - standard carmine red - a little orange peel effect which can be cut back easily enough but overall very impressive.

Its all down to the prep work. If you want a decent respray, start saving coz pearlescent paint aint cheap.

I spent ?150 on my paint along from a body shop. Probably spent ?600 all in taking into account needed to rep it myself, hire compressor, fresh air respirator etc... You could get a 1/2 decent job for that loot at a body shop - prob not in the paint type you ant though.

It also depends on the state of yer car. Anyone can respray a car in any colour for a rally "cheap" price but if they dont treat the rust or corrosion, it will all be a waste of time coz in less than 3-6 months it will bubble and peel and look sh1te.

Check out my post "Personal injury update" for full breakdown on my project - including respray.

Speaking of Pearlesant Black, I've actually got an uncle which sells car spray booths/bake ovens, and is gettin me a free spray! What colour shall I go for!? black or a dark purple in metallic/pearlesant!?

neither - black shows up dirt n scratches really quickly - purple looks weird (IMO)

Wot about rrover tahiti blue - deep rich blue in metalic - looks well wicked (m8 of mine had it on his 2ltr nova - it glistened in the light).

Quite a unique colour and didnt show up to many faults.
